We almost passed right by this storefront, until we saw a woman hug her husband & say "I am so happy we stopped in there, that was the greatest store I've been in in a long time!" We doubled back and boy, was she right! You can sample DOZENS of olive oils or balsamic vinegars, they sell them by the bottle or sample packs. If you bring your bottle back, they give you 10%off for recycling!

We stopped at the Saratoga Olive Oil Company to check it out after seeing a story about it in the newspaper. There are a large variety of olive oils from all over the world and they allow you to taste their different products before you make a purchase, so that is very nice. They buy the oils in bulk and then bottle them on site. We tried 4 or 5 products and really did not find anything special. The prices are very high: $15 to $20 for 375ml. They also have quite a few balsamic ‘condemento’ products. I asked the salesperson what that meant and was told that this allowed one to add these products to many different foods. My memory is that real high quality Balsamic vinegar has the wording, "Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena" and that ‘condemento’ is not as high quality and could have other flavors added, or be a mix of high quality and lower quality vinegars. In terms of olive oil, you would get much better value from a good quality olive oil bottled in the country of origin and sold for about $20 for a 750ml to one litre bottle. This can be purchased in an upper-end food store or an Italian Deli. The better ones are not blends and specifically state that that 100% of the olive oil is from the country of origin.

I don't usually associate greatness with anything from upstate New York but i have to hand it to Saratoga Olive Oil their brand is absolutely phenomenal. My gf had been raving about this place since it's inception and decided well i obviously needed to check it out. Why what's this? a magical haven for olive oils, spices, and salts? Have i died and gone to food heaven? Perhaps i'm sedated in some type of Narnia and this is someone's sick twisted idea of a joke! Either way upon walking in i was thoroughly impressed and excited, the endless possibilities of the vast selection of products was just tempting. In fact i lost track of the time and literally had to leave because we had dinner reservations. Yes that's how great this place is , you may lose track of time because you want to test out everything.

YOU SERIOUSLY NEED TO GIVE YOURSELF AT LEAST 45 TO AN HOUR. If you have never been to this place. I know some people will say less than that but the Olive Oil selection is just to die for and there is a lot to choose from. I mean pomegranate balsamic, lemon balsamic, Vermont maple, Tuscan herb, blueberry, black cherry!!? What sick twisted evil genius manipulated my mind into loving all of these. I find it very hard to choose only one olive oil whenever i visit, i would say you are going to walk away with at least 3-4 different varieties. Also the sea salts and spices are just superb as well and i'm not just saying that.

What seriously makes this place stand out is the customer service and the sample set-up. At each Olive Oil station as they have little plastic cups that you use to pour the olive oil in. Then they have bread everywhere and you dip the bread in olive oil and boom free sample. Then they have a lemon water station which allows you to cleanse your mouth palette and try other flavors. They also have descriptions of each olive oil and what you can use it to cook with. But if you have a problem or any questions seriously the staff is one of the most friendly set of people i have ever encountered in a store in my life. All smiles, can make jokes with you, and answer all your questions. They make you want to spend money here because they are just so genuine and nice. Also they aren't pushy or trying to bait you to spend money. If you don't like what they are selling they just bid you adieu with a smile and a have a nice day and that's that. Ahh yes Saratoga Olive Oil. you are indeed a rock star NOW GIVE ME SOME MORE TUSCAN HERB PLEASE YES OH YES!
