I really loved this place. My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights while visiting town for a wedding.
The room was nicely decorated, the fireplace was really cozy, and the bed was so comfortable.
The food for breakfast was really delicious. The lemon and blueberry muffins were amazing,
It was nice to have fresh water placed out in the foyer, home made cookies, and tea. Hot coco would have been nice tho ;)
Ice is really only accessible during business hours and you have to make contact with an employee to get some. I suggest a small ice machine somewhere accessible to guests at any hour.
The material in the foyer for local stuff to do and events was somewhat outdated. several were for events that ended back in september. Its now mid October. I'd suggest keeping that up to date.
There was no book in the room to explain things like: TV, Channels, places to eat, places to visit, where to get the iron, or what to do in case of an emergency, or local numbers to the hospital. . . In fact, the room had nothing posted on fire emergency exits and procedures.
The fridge in the closet was hardly cold (on the lowest setting).
Now on to the mandatory tip. I was first hesitant to book here because of the included tip in the cost of the room. I don't particularly like the idea of a mandatory tip, because the tipped employees can give subpar service, knowing it doesn't matter. They're still going to get tipped. And thats just what I experienced. When the room was refreshed each morning the only thing done was the bed was made, towels replaced and the trash emptied. The cup we used in the sink was not cleaned and replaced, the sink and shower were not wiped down. Even at the cheapest hotels (who dont require a tip) the maids will wipe down the shower and tub, sink, replace soaps and lotions, and the water cups. At breakfast we sat with our drink glasses empty and had to get the attention of the server to get more. I was even kind of mocked because of how much juice we were drinking.
I'm only picky because I work part time at a B&B and I know that when guests book at a B&B its because they want something different. They want that little extra care taken of them. The place is beautiful, the food is amazing, the innkeepers are so nice. Just some things to take into consideration to make everyones stay even that more special.
-A laminated small card with channel listings
-A nicely put together book with instructions, and recommendations
-When rooms are refreshed: Wipe down the showers and sink. Clean the water glasses and replace them. When we refresh rooms we make them look as if they just arrived.
-At breakfast, try doing pitcher service. have the server go out to the dining area with a pitcher of juice to refill, instead of grabbing glasses taking them to the kitchen and bringing them back.
Thanks so much for a great stay. If we ever visit we will stay again. :)
