My husband and I have visited Kiwassa Lake B & B for the past three years. All four roms are beautifully decorated. The inn is located on Lake Kiwassa with fantastic views of the lake. Margie prepares delicious and healthy breakfasts and she is full of info about the area. We are looking forward to our stay in 2012 !!

My husband and I stayed at Kiwassa Lake B&B for a few days in mid October, and we absolutely loved it! Margie's hospitality is unsurpassable, and her breakfasts are just delicious. We stayed in the Eagle room--it was very clean and beautifully appointed, with excellent views of the lake. We loved the location--right on Kiwassa Lake, but not far away from the sights in Saranac Lake & Lake Placid. It really was the perfect "home base" for us to explore the Adirondack region, which was gorgeous this time of year. Margie was very knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations for hiking excursions as well as restaurants. We really could not have asked for more, and I hope we will be back many times.

We stayed in one of the smaller cabins @ $125/night. Stupid expensive for what it is, basically a bedroom with a tiny bathroom. Advertised as having kitchen facities, these consisted of a tiny fridge and not even a counter area to prepare food. Cabin was clean enough but old and run down. The property itself does not offer any beach or swimming area as the waterfront is basically a powerboat dock with a big chunk taken up by the owners float plane. It was however a very quiet and peaceful location other than some fairly dense powerboat traffic in the daytime. There is a list of requirements posted involving cleaning, scrubbing and mopping prior to vacating ones cabin which for the price seemed completely ridiculous, for well over $100/night for the cheapest cabin the owners should not be requiring the guests do do their own cleaning. I would give this a miss, too basic, the cabin we stayed in needs a serious updating and/or price should be far more reasonable.

The review posted is full of misrepresentations of Kiwassa Lake Bed and Breakfast and we question whether or not this guest actually stayed in the B&B. The review seems to pertain to our sister property, Cochran's Cabins. What is descrbed seems to be one of our smallest, least expensive cabins that is clearly advertised as not having a kitchen. The cabins are also advertised as being rustic, housekeeping cabins - meaning you keep house, no maid service. We have been in business for our 20 years and take great pride in the properties we own - in fact, this cabin has new knotty pine interior and new vinyl flooring.

If you are looking for peace and tranquility and enjoy nature at its best, then Kiwassa Lake B&B is the place for you. Margie & Cliff, their son Doug, and dog Laney are perfect hosts and made us feel welcome the moment we arrived. We spent 5 very comfortable nights in the Pike room which had a beautiful view of the serene lake and surrounding wooded countryside. Margie made us delicious breakfasts every day and she and Doug were very helpful in providing information on the area. Their dining and other recommendations were perfect for us. We enjoyed sitting by the lake, watching all the hummingbirds and other birds at their many feeders, and hearing and seeing the Loons. A new and thrilling experience for me was a ride over the Saranac Lake area in their seaplane.

A special thank you to the Cochrans for sharing their wonderful home with us. I enjoyed our conversations and felt sad leaving our new “friends”.

Originally planned on staying two nights in the B&B, ended staying six! The Cochran's know exactly how to please their guests. Their home is warm and inviting. Margie's breakfasts were delicious and filling. Rooms were very clean and updated. There is a communal pantry/kitchen (stocked w/ everything but food) upstairs for guests to use. This is great for reheating leftovers, making sandwiches or brewing a cup of tea. My husband launched and docked his 16' boat right in front of the property. He caught small and large mouth bass and pike in Kiwassa & Oseetah Lake. The village of Saranac Lake and Lake Placid were close enough for me to drive and shop. Booked a spa treatment at the Mirror Lake Inn (very nice). A wonderfullly relaxing week celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary, thanks to Kiwassa Lake B&B and the Cochrans!

On our trip to Saranac for the February Winter Festival, we stayed at this B&B in the Bear Room, a beautiful spacious room with gorgeous pine floors and walls, vaulted ceiling and the most comfortable beds ever. The warm glow from the gas fireplace made the evening so peaceful as we settled down with a few of the many great books provided. We used the TV only to listen for the weather forecast (snow), and chose to take a quiet walk outside - a winter hush over everything. Margie and Cliff were terrific hosts, preparing us a fabulous hot breakfast. We've been here before, staying in one of their rustic cabins during the spring for some fishing in Kiwassa Lake (which is noted for its bass and pike), but I think we're spoiled now staying in the B&B rooms. We'll definitely be back, maybe for a fall trip when the foliage is at its peak, and stay in the room with the balcony facing the lake. You'll love this place!

We spent a splendid week at Kiwassa Lake Bed and Breakfast. For tranquil days and nights by a quiet, small lake (with canoe and kayak access to wider waters) within a short drive of good restaurants in Lake Placid, this lakeshore B&B is a marvel. Our windows gave onto the lake, our room was large and comfortable, our bathroom downright luxurious. We enjoyed two amenities rare in B&Bs: good lighting, so one could actually read in one’s room in the evening, and sufficient closet space, with many hangers. Margie Cochran who runs the B&B is as lovely and helpful as can be. She also happens to make mouth-watering and varied breakfasts which she serves in a pleasant room with views of the lake. (Later in the day this room is the family’s living space.) There is an open porch, and there are also some comfortable Adirondack chairs at the waterside. Friends of the family come and use them once in a while, but mostly they are at the disposal of the guests. On the second floor where the guest rooms are, a small, well-equipped kitchen with fridge helps with one of life’s great problems: what to do about lunch when away from home. There is great boating and hiking (the excellent Mt. Ampersand is just minutes away) and Margie has plenty of books and pamphlets on Adirondack attractions. If you want an inn set in manicured lawns this is not the place. People live here. Don’t be surprised to see that materials for Mr. Cochran’s landscaping business are stored in sheds behind the house. But the woods all around come down to the lake, the family makes you feel at home, and the peace is heavenly.
