The Downhill Grill is a nice, casual place in the heart of Saranac Lake. Easy to get to with good parking available at the municipal lot. This establishment also has one of the few bars where an "older" crowd can hang out for a drink. Nice long bar with a "set aside" area, at one side of the large dining room. The dining room is all tables; no booths, that are well spaced apart, and angled into various nooks to help with privacy. Decor has old sports items, plenty of interesting pictures on the walls (many from local artists), and live plants. Service is very good with the owner right on the floor or behind the bar as needed. The menu is eclectic; something for anyone with a Mexican flair to many selections. I agree with another reviewer who said the seafood queso dip is excellent (and filling) but pricey at $12.00. Fish fry has a light tempura type batter and looked excellent. I had a fresh green salad with grilled chicken which was good but average. Nothing special. My hubby had a burger, which was cooked perfectly at med. rare. Fries were extra. Again, good average type fare. You can't go wrong selecting this family run restaurant. Good casual fare, nice portions, good service, and a busy atmosphere. Check for two with a drink will run about $50.00.
