“A touch of NYC in Saranac Lake”
Reviewed March 29, 2013

So we look at it as options. One option is to drive to Albany, take the Amtrack to Penn Station, check into a hotel, take the # 9 train, transfer to the F train, walk six blocks . . .. Or, call ahead, go to the Eat n Meet, maybe wait a few minutes and get the real NYC experience for food, "atmosphere," and watching Chief Varga do his magic. Who would ever think to put these ingredients together? I tend to be impatient, but some things are worth waiting for; we love good food. This is good food. We only get to Saranac Lake a few times a year, we were there last week, three trips to Chief Varga's cooking treated us to lobster several ways (special dinner), fried sardines, Cuban pork pot roast, and quail with gravy over grits. Check out the on-line daily menu and do yourself a favor and take the option of eat n meet.

“Our FAVORITE Restaurant!!!”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

The Eat 'n Meet Grill and Larder is a place unlike any other. It is a tiny little storefront located in Saranac Lake in the depth of the Adirondack Park in upstate NY. Extremely unpretentious from the outside, with the only real indication you are there a statue of Elvis in his heyday greeting you out front.

Inside, you will find three tables, an open kitchen, small counter and shelves filled with the ingredients the master chefs will use to prepare your order.

Take the time to review the menu carefully, because everything they serve is wonderful, and you will want to make this visit last with your choice of selections. The ingredients are the freshest, mostly obtained from local farmers and butchers.

You can eat in if there is a table available, or in good weather, sit at one of the picnic tables on the adjacent deck. Or you can order take-out and walk or drive to the little park area overlooking Lake Flower in the center of the village, where picnic tables and other seats are available for free.

Regardless of where you enjoy your meal, you will find the Eat 'n Meet meals to be of the highest quality, comparable or better than the best restaurant in the most expensive city.

“Best Eatery in Saranac Lake area”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

Great Local Eatery, unusual and creative menu for the area. Local farm ingredients used in many dishes. Best burgers using fresh beef from farms nearby. Interesting tin plate specials, in the summer try their local caught pike po boy! Just a few tables so take out is best. Call an hour ahead for pickup, dishes are cooked to order!

“Even if it took 3 hours, I would still wait patiently for this food!”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

Ah, my absolute favorite go-to restaurant in Saranac Lake. They have everything from finger food to full meals, lots of vegetarian options, amazing seafood and fresh daily specials. Not only is the food great but the owners actually care about what you’re putting in your mouth. It’s healthy, seasonal, sustainable, and as local as can be. It does take a little longer to prepare but when you start from starch what doesn’t take a little more time to reach perfection? I always call ahead then run some errands, and waalaa, a tasty, hot dinner to pick up on the way home.

Favorites: The Alaskan Pollack Fish Tacos, the Fish Sandwich on a Crusty Roll and of course some Seasoned Sweet Potato Fries.
