“Good Food, Awkward Situation”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

Disappointed. We went there for our anniversary on a Monday night. Since there were only two other tables occupied, we thought the service would be faster; it was quite slow. The food was excellent, but I had a coupon and the waitress said they would not take it. She said she was only the middle man and was very defensive about it. She finally agreed to ask the owner and came back to say they would use it this time, as if they were doing us a favor. When our bill came, though, she forgot to deduct the coupon amount so I questioned it and she couldn't find the coupon I had given her. She finally found it on another table, where she left it, but the whole "coupon" incident made it awkward for the rest of the evening. We sat on the screened porch for the view but the windows were very steamed up and you couldn't see out very well. The table next to us ordered (2) twin lobster plates, but they only had enough lobster to fill one order. I would probably go back because the food was very good, but we were very disappointed in the atmosphere after asking to use the coupon.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Wanted to go somewhere special for our anniversay with a good view close to home, so choose The Old Wigwam which is now Sandy Pond Steak House. Only 3 tables seated on this Tues eve so thought the service would be good. Did not know there were specials until the next customers came in and sat next to us. Of course, this was after we ordered. The greens in the salad were limp and old..tried to cover with croutons. Fried potatoes very greasy, frozen broccoli over cooked. Prime rib was okay. There was a coupon in the menu but were told we could not use it this time. I do not think we will ever go back.

“Birthday/Anniversary dinner”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

We had the pleasure of going to the Sandy Pond Steak House a few weeks ago. It was my birthday and our anniversary! Went there on a fluke, & I have to say, It was great. Started out back at the Tiki Bar, had a couple drinks, everyone at the bar was friendly, as if they had known us all of our lives! Then headed up the dining area, the servers were very friendly, even though they were a bit busy for a Tuesday, I think. The food was great, especially the Hot Stuffed Cherry peppers, they are a must have! So good in fact, we ordered 2 extra servings to take home! The prices are also good, If you get up that you have to this place! Right on the pond! you can come by boat, car, jet ski, car or bike! nice yard, and you can eat outside too, If you like!

“This should be a gem of a joint”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

I have been coming to Sandy Pond for the last 30 years. This place has been called a couple of different names. You can eat inside which is upscale dining or outside at the tiki bar. Food is so, so. Service is so, so. This year we have been there with groups of people and just by ourselves mainly dining outside. Went there with a large group over the 4th and they had "live music". The dude sang his own music and all the songs were depressing. Not what you want for a lake venue, but my burger was good and so were the wings. Went there the next weekend to sit at the bar and have a burger and we were told they didn't serve food at the bar. When I asked why not they said it gets to crowded... the place was empty so we left and went down the street to the next place. Talked to some other regulars who said they eat at the bar all the time so not sure what went wrong there however, the few times we have been there the one owner was in but she appeared a little tipsy so I would have wasted my time asking her about it.

“nice summer evening stop”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

A great view of the water from the upper enclosed deck. Seating outside on lower deck. Friendly staff. Chicken Parm was huge, very tasty, and the seafood newberg(newton?) was also huge and plentiful of seafood. Prices were reasonable. Most dishes were $8.99-12.99. You can order anything from hot dogs to steak.
