We have been to this restaurant many times over many years. Our last visit, the Crab sherry soup was still outstanding, the Shrimp Scampy was outstanding as were the ribs. The twin petit fillets were not as good as usual. Our waitress was great but the water boy was not interested in pouring water or helping our waitress or any of the others do anything. The Bananas Foster is still excellent!

We have lived around the corner from Schimschack's for 50 years and have been there well over 100 times, maybe 200, and have never had a bad meal or rude waitress. The food is always excellent as is the service. We were there last night for a small Christmas party. The decorations were beautiful, very elegant and not gaudy and tacky. We go there mostly for special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, Mothers Day, and always for Valentines Day and a romantic dinner. There are week night early bird specials of a complete meal including soup, salad, entree, dessert, coffee, tea, for $14.25. The same specials on Sunday afternoon are $14.50. You can also order from the regular menu. Check out their website for menu, pictures, history, and directions. About the name - Bob and Mary Schimschack owned the restaurant for many years. I knew them personally. Bob was the host and Mary was famous for her home made pies. After Bob's death the restaurant was sold but the name was kept. After it was destroyed in a fire, it was rebuilt as a fine dining restaurant patterned after Independence Hall in Philadelphia. It is built on tiers overlooking the vineyards and orchards of Niagara County. On a clear day you can see the skyline of Toronto across Lake Ontario. Am I getting paid for this review? Definitely not. Jim, the owner, does not even know I am writing it. As you can tell, we love Schimschack's and we hope you will also. Thank you for reading this long review.

We were so looking forward to this celebratory meal and we were disappointed with our experience. We have been here many times and have always loved the service and the meals, but the service this time was so poor, it was off putting!. Our meals were good, not excellent, but the value was there. The waitress was not interested in providing service and was even a little surly with us. I don't think we will be back in the near future.

The food was delicious, shared the crab stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer, had the strip steak for dinner and my husband had the ribs. The downside of the night was the service. Our waitress was rude to us throughout dinner making us feel extremely uncomfortable. We were the youngest people in the place and she made us feel completely unwelcomed. Will return again for the food, but hope for a different waitress.

The restaurant has a old school feel. The food is good and the service usually pretty good. Been going for years. Nice destination restaurant. Can see Toronto on a clear day. We like having date night there.
