Where to start...the parking lot: a pile of junk, old chairs, broken yard equipment. Not welcoming as was our entry to the B&B. The housekeeper greeted us rather hastily, not the usual "show you everything". The room was not as described. The sitting area was a small rocker in the corner. There was not a single place for luggage. We had to put our bag on the bed, get what we needed, and put the bag back on the bed in the morning repeating the process.
As to the parlors, the furniture in one room looked so old and dirty I wouldn't sit there. The other parlor had a victorian settee which was not designed for a pleasant reading experience.
For the big price we paid and the state on the Caldwell house I would urge people to look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Don't go!

Dena and I sincerely wish we had the opportunity to have met you and discuss any concerns you may have had. We have tried to reach out to you but the contact information you gave at check-in (email address, etc.) appears to not be working.

We value each and EVERY one of our guests and want everyone to have the very best stay possible. We would appreciate it if you could reach out to us on our toll free number and let us know what we could have done to have made your stay like that our all our other guests.

In short, I couldn't be any happier with my weekend at Caldwell House. For one, John and Dena are nothing short of the perfect hosts. The building is as beautiful as it is comfortable. And Dena's breakfast, as stated repeatedly in other reviews, is absolutely off the charts. If you enjoy great shopping and/ or wineries, Caldwell House is only a stones throw away. If you prefer just some rest and recovery, I highly recommend unwinding on the front porch with a glass of wine and (if you're lucky enough) some conversation with John and Dena themselves (they are a great time!) I certainly recommend anyone book a stay at Caldwell House as it is the type of place you are sad to leave.

Just spent a lovely weekend up at the Caldwell House. Dena and John are wonderful hosts, and the breakfasts, as advertised, are phenomenal. I took the train from NYC - an easy 1 1/2 hour ride to Somerset Mills, and Dena was kind enough to pick me up at the train. The house is only about a mile away from the train station.

I stayed in the Moodna room. The decor was charming without being precious, and the house itself is as warm and welcoming as one could hope for. Bike and hiking trails are easily accessible, along with wineries and a local pub - as in, one block away - that served delicious food. The other guests were an interesting and good-natured group; I enjoyed getting to spend a bit of time with them each day over breakfast.

Overall I had a delightful time and made great strides in my novel! I have threatened to come back in the winter and take over the entire house with my writing group. Will definitely return. Thank you so much for everything, John and Dena!

We are so glad you enjoyed yourself. We promised you a good location to work on your novel - and it sounds like you got it!
Now, don't forget, Dena and I expect to show up as "nice characters" in the book!!! ;-)

John and Dena are very welcoming hosts who add little touches to make guests feel comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious, and the owners steered us to excellent restaurants. We particularly enjoy staying in historic houses. We enjoyed visiting the nearby Storm King Art Center, a 500 acre, well-organized outdoor sculpture park.

John and Dena are fantastic hosts and promptly attended to our various needs. We stayed for my sister's bachelorette party. They set up wine tastings with a limo to take us to 4 of the best local wineries and set up a spa day at the local salon. They have fantastic recommendations for local restaurants as well. The rooms were spotless and charming. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in a friendly atmosphere.

The Caldwell House was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in. From the moment we arrived Dena and John were warm, welcoming made us feel like guests in their home. The room was extremely well appointed and contained all amenities for our comfort and convenience. Beds were very comfortable and afforded us two great nights sleep. Breakfast was a wonderful treat that began with personalized menues and continued with delicious well prepared food and friendly service. Overall 5 stars from us. Richard& Linda

This past weekend, my husband and I celebrated our third year anniversary at the Caldwell House Bed and Breakfast in Salisbury, NY. It was the first time that either of us had ever been to a bed and breakfast, yet it was an experience that we will never forget. It is a striking historic home. Besides the fact that the innkeepers, Mama & Papa Finn, are some of the friendliest people that one could ever meet, the house and rooms were immaculate. Breakfast was PHENOMENAL…so much so that I had to stuff my purse with recipes! :) During our weekend stay, we visited West Point, Brotherhood Winery, and the Premium Outlets…which all very close points of interest. There was a full house. Being the last to leave, I was amazed to see that ALL of the other friendly guests were just as pleased as we were. Each guest left with a smile, offering extra praise. Whether or not you have been to a bed and breakfast on a previous occasion, visiting the Caldwell House is a MUST! It truly deserves each of the FIVE stars granted.
