Laura Coldwell is a perfect hostess (her breakfasts are great!), and she made this Georgian-period farmhouse into a comfortable, period-appropriate inn, without fussiness or overly-fastidiousness.
The location on a back road, with views of Vermont hills from the fields make it highly roam-able.
We have traveled to the most exotic places and stayed in the best B & B's and hotels, but this feels like home, but this is our favorit place to unwind. Bring your books & conversation, and your walking (or sitting) shoes.

Bunker Hill provides a family atmosphere in a wonderful rural setting of upstate NY. Laura goes out of her way to ensure you are at home in her old, family heirloom home. Her breakfasts are hearty and delicious. She also offers dinners which are very good if you are interested. Laura, having grown up in the area, knows it thoroughly and willingly provides any and all information to ensure you get to see and do anything in which you may be interested. It's a wonderful area to have as a base camp as you explore a wonderful part of NY. It's a memorable stay at very reasonable prices.

Spent six days at the Bunker Hill Inn in Salem New York. The Inn is in Washington County, a hundred miles or so north of Albany. Still a rural area, the rolling farm land around the inn was beautiful. My wife and I drove all over the region in our Miata. It was to be a fall foliage trip but we were a week or so early. However, we lucked out on the weather and had a perfect six days of late summer! No complaints there. The inn was built around 1840 and is owned by Laura Coldwell, a very pleasant woman who went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The place was very clean, but remember, it is an "antique." So, no A/C. The beds (we had to change rooms mid-stay, which we knew would happen before we arrived) were firm but comfortable. The bathrooms were simple, clean and serviceable. Plenty of hot water for the showers. Laura served a very nice breakfeast each morning and even after we finishing her large portions of eggs or pancakes or sausage or whatever Laura would ask if we would like some more. The atmosphere is relaxed (her two nieces would be dropped off after school and hang out. Kinda fun having the kids around.) and you tend to feel more that you're visiting someone rather than staying at a B&B. If you need a place to stay in that part of NY you won't go wrong with the Bunker Hill Inn.
