This is a gem of a state park. All kinds of wildlife, extreme beauty, fantastic scenery, and outstanding amenities. I could go back again, and again. The Fall foliage was breathtaking!

Allegany State Park is a great place for everyone to enjoy :) Fall foliage was beautiful. We stayed in the Quaker side of the park at Buffalo Trail. The best cabins on Buffalo Trail are 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 in my opinion closer to the creek :). The cabins are rustic with basic amenities like stove and fridge and wood stove plus a table and beds, but I would recommend bringing an electric blanket for extra warmth since cabins are a wee bit drafty. And at night bring a deer spotting light to see all kinds of great animals. We encountered foxes, raccoons, lots of deer, an owl, and mice :) And reserve early if you want a cabin by the creek. If you want to explore the Quaker area check out Science Lake, the Bear Caves, Thunder Rocks, and tons more hiking trails :)
Also check out Bridal Falls its small but nice its on Site 62 on the Park map. Enjoy the park and have fun :)

Many years ago, while looking over Red House Lake at the Administration building, my grandfather said it was one of the most beautiful sites he had ever seen. I said that to our kids and our kids say it to our grandchildren. Allegany is a timeless place of peaceful beauty.... filled with babbling brooks, flora and fauna of all kinds and of course, the famous Thunder Rocks.

Beautiful and so worth the trip. The Thunder Rocks in particular are amazing. Also make sure to visit Red House.
