Owner description: A very important maritime museum with items dating back to the 1700s.

Packed with intriguing whaling and sea going items, harpoons, portraits of sea captains, scrimshaw and all sorts of odd ball objects from when whaling was king and everyone used whale oil to light their homes. Interesting for all ages.

We went in on a whim and saw some beautiful whaling inspired artwork on display. It was interesting to see the old whaling/ship equipment. The museum gave a through background on the area in a historical sense. Information about the family who lived in the current museum building was also illustrated. Many items displayed are made from whales and their parts. Very interesting, alittle cluttered but this added to the building's charm.

Thank Amy B
