“Friendly, quiet, great location”
Reviewed November 21, 2010

Very nice small hotel for a getaway. Just a few blocks from the quaint Main Street of Sag Harbor and a short drive from the ocean beaches. Room was very clean with pretty water views, but furnishings are showing their age. November nights are chilly but the heat in the room worked great. Staff was friendly and helpful.

After listening to my boyfriend say (repeatedly, with disdain) that Long Island is made up entirely of strip malls and parking lots, I decided to take him out east to experience some of its natural beauty. The Sag Harbor Inn was the perfect choice for our weekend in the Hamptons!

We were there at the end of September in the off-season, so the town and the hotel were pretty quiet... I've heard it's fully booked up and packed all summer. The staff was friendly and helpful, giving suggestions for where to go and where to eat. The view of the harbor from our room was fantastic and the location really can't be beat. We went out to watch the boats and then biked around the area to the ferry. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and we appreciated the continental breakfast before heading out for a day of activities. We were out exploring most of the time, but the Sag Harbor Inn was just what we were looking for.

We'll definitely be back! Maybe next time we'll explore some of the vineyards.

The Sag Harbor Inn has the unique combination of being a hotel with helpful staff, nice size rooms, and an included continental breakfast as you might expect from a chain, but it also has a cozy bed and breakfast feel to it. The location was great. The harbor is in front of the hotel, so you can sit on your balcony (if your room is on that side) or from the breakfast room, and watch the water and boats. It is an easy 3 block walk along the water to Main St. The hotel was very clean, the beds were comfortable and my wife really liked the pillows. The hotel is ideally located in the middle of the Hamptons. We toured around the large homes, stopped at the ocean and spent the afternoon at a wonderful winery followed by an excellent dinner in the Village. Sunday after our breakfast at the hotel, we ventured to a state park a few miles away, where the front desk told us that we could have birds eat out of the palms of our hands. After picking up some sunflower seeds at the local hardware store we headed out to the park and enjoyed the walk in the woods, the beach, and the birds which came to us to eat the seeds right from our hands. It was great! We spent some time window shopping, stopped for something to eat, and just had a very enjoyable weekend. The Sag Harbor Inn was a great find, it is so comfortable and well situated that we can't wait to go back.

The Sag Harbor Inn is a pretty good hotel. My friends and I stayed for a weekend for a bachelorette party this summer and it definitely suited our needs, but it certainly didn't leave me with a warm and fuzzy feeling. We essentially stayed there because it was the best option in the area that didn't cost a complete fortune (aside from the Southampton Inn, which is actually much nicer in almost every way). It certainly wasn't cheap, though! The rooms were fine, although strangely antiseptic and un-artfully decorated - lots of dull colors, pine furniture, a little country bumpkin-ish for a location like the Hamptons. The hallways also resemble an unfortunate housing complex or college dorm and are very dimly lit, with fake flower arrangements other odd decorations here and there- which you would never know from the outside (which is actually very pretty). The breakfast was sufficient - sort of like a motel with little boxes of cereal and some fruit and coffee and stuff - although they had Lender's bagels or something like that, which is totally unacceptable in the NYC area!

The rooms were clean though - that I will say. All the mattresses AND the boxsprings were wrapped completely so that was good. And the bathrooms were spotless. They also had sinks outside and inside the bathrooms, which worked well since there were several of us staying in the room. We also had a great balcony that looked out into the harbor.

The staff was relatively helpful - although they completely mixed up our rooms at the start (we worked it out). They were also good about ordering taxis and things, although the hotel is within walking distance of the main street in Sag Harbor so they werent necessary most of the time.

All in all, for an area that has very few hotel options I'd say this is a decent one, but don't expect to be blown away. It's not luxurious in any way.

The Sag Harbor Inn was a real pleasure. With its wonderful view of Sag Harbor bay it's a romantic getaway for romantics such as ourselves. On arrival they sent us a bottle of fine local wine to our room. The beds were comfortable. The rooms spacious - and of course taht view. Watching the boats coming and going in the harbor is a delight.

My husband and I visited recently, along with our friends. Our stay at the Sag Harbor Inn was so pleasant and comfortable. Even the pillows were great! We had a very relaxing time. The Inn was very clean, the staff was friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast sitting outside on the patio! We definitely hope to go back! I have to say that I was a little skeptical to make reservations after reading some of the reviews. We live about 4 hours away and so we were unable to check it out first. But we were very pleased with our choice to say the least!! You know how you look forward to going home to sleep in your own bed, well this was the first time that wasn't the case! S & K Wirtz

I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at the Hotel. We were given a second floor room with a balcony overlooking the harbor. The room was very clean and comfortable. In the morning they have a continental breakfast in a dining area. Most hotels do not have this service, which is included in the price. I would definitely return to this hotel. Everything is in walking distance. Great find!
