Thank you Lisa M for the fabulous graduation party for our nephew. As usual the food was great and the wait staff incredibly attentive and knowledgeable.

“Unimaginative and void of basic quality”
Reviewed June 21, 2014

I had let a year pass before giving Morgan's Fish House another chance. I am mystified how it can be busy when I pass by, or more accurately, how it still can be in business.

There is nothing fish house-like or seafood fresh about the place. Except for a neon sign plainly stating "Oysters", there is no sign of anything fresh and dynamic about a restaurant whose name suggests quality seafood. A chalkboard above the bar is filled with an unremarkable list of wines by the glass, rather than specials, in season catches, or available oysters. Even the menu lists nothing fresh. The barely competent waiter read from a prepared list, with no power of description or suggestion that might steer a customer toward a more pleasant experience.

I had the gazpacho special as an appetizer, which was more like a generic tomato purée. It was one of the most boring specials I have ever been confronted with in decades of dining. The tuna tartar was poorly presented, with a thick layer of avocado on top that overwhelmed anything about the tuna. It could have just as easily been billed as avocado tartar. The crab cocktail was the crowning display of Morgan's inferiority: it was made of small pieces of crab on an ultra plain bed of chopped iceberg lettuce, like something one would get at a truck stop. The crab reminded me in size, flavor, and consistency of the vacuum packed Indonesian crab at Costco. And on chopped iceberg lettuce no less. A Filet o Fish under the Golden Arches has more character and equal appeal to this embarrassment of an appetizer.

Morgan's is befuddling; there are so many good alternatives for dining in Westchester, it is difficult to see why anyone would ever go here. The convenience of a local place for the elderly? Inertia that lulls people into thinking a regularly patronized establishment has some understood quality, where reputation maintains a tenuous advantage over a realistic assessment of just how bland Morgan's is in every way? From atmosphere, to service, to presentation, to food quality, the overriding joy of dining at Morgan's tonight was knowing that I will never go back.

“Tastebuds will be in heaven!”
Reviewed June 2, 2014

Lovely restaurant in downtown Rye, NY.
Reservations are suggested if you are going to go 7:30 P.M., which is when the place gets really busy. If you go early, you probably will not need to call first. Wait service is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Food is mouthwateringly delicious. Prices are high/moderate for this area, but worth every cent! Love this restaurant and will be visiting often!

“Great seafood, attentive staff, simple but elegant decor”
Reviewed December 25, 2013

This was a wonderful surprise. Lobster bisgue, Bib salad, Fried calamari (large portion) and the best seafood risotto I have ever tasted. Go you won't be disappointed and the staff is so attentive you will think you are dining in a five star resort. I give Morgans Fish House 10 thumbs up!
