“Gourmet Greek”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

Wonderful food in a pretty setting. We had incredibly creamy dolmas, the dips were perfectly flavored for pitas, dolmas, and chicken. I don't know the names of the dishes we had...greek...but all delicious and with beautiful presentation. They had only been open 12 days yet all was running smoothly. We ordered the dessert which was a phyllo wrapped custard with just the right amount of honey and spices. I had never had it before. Worth a drive and in lovely Roxbury.

“Upscale Greek”
Reviewed July 24, 2014 via mobile

Petra moved her Brooklyn restaurant to the Catskills and we are the beneficiaries. Food is classic upscale Greek, well prepared and very good. For example, Octopus appetizer is $20 but enough for two. Grilled fish are mid-$20s to 30s but I would expect them to be beautifully prepared; everything we had was. BYOB keeps the tab down but it will be nice when they have a license. Bring a bottle and enjoy the spectacular view on the hillside terrace overlooking the golf course. The restaurant is in the club house. We shall return.

“Great addition to a booming little town”
Reviewed July 21, 2014

It's tricky to find which means that the view is quite special - sit outside if you're afforded the chance. Another tip, try not overload on the grilled pita - it's tempting...the octopus and taramosalata were exquisite as were the fish mains and the baklava was very authentic to finish. Service friendly but slow enough to actually enjoy the pace of the meal (and let the pita digest). Expensive for the area, but just about deserving it.

“Outstanding, and so needed in town!!”
Reviewed July 21, 2014

We were so eager to try out Petra as soon as we'd heard they had opened, and we were not disappointed!! Went there Saturday evening and sat on the beautiful terrace overlooking the pond to enjoy the setting sun over some truly fabulous. cloud-like pita bread. Our grilled octopus and taramosalata starters were exceptional (the octopus is a personal favorite and the execution was wonderful), as were our main courses, the moussaka and the whole red snapper. We also took a flyer and ordered some totally un-pronounceable item on the menu for dessert in addition to the baklava and it was outstanding! kind of like a custard filled egg roll pastry, but I had custard and egg rolls and this was amazing. I almost always hate baklava because it's heavy or overly drenched in honey, but this was perfect. The service was charming, Mandy was an attentive delight, and her colleagues were very helpful as well. I love that it's BYOB, but given how delicious everything was, I look forward to their receiving their liquor license just to see what wines they get in! Absolutely our new favorite local restaurant in Roxbury, there simply isn't anything up to this standard; it's a joy to see someone making such excellent use of ingredients. Beautiful job and we will be back many many times.

“Authentic and fresh Greek food!”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

Brand new, family style Greek restaurant. The food was absolutely fresh, delicious and authentic. Try the stuffed grape leaves and the moussaka. Home-made pita bread with olive tapanade was also excellent. Many more dishes that looked superb. No sign outside - drive up to the golf course and it is right there.
