“Beautiful sculpture garden”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

I went to the Museum to check out the trails and take a look at the sculptures. I have visited here many times before, bringing out of town visitors. It is always a very pleasant experience. Yesterday I did not go into the Museum. Parking was free. There was no one at the gatehouse as I entered. Just like the other parks and gardens in our area, Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on the trees in the park. Every time I visit here I am delighted with the high quality of the sculptures in the park.

“A nice little Long Island museum”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

This is a neat little place to visit on Long Island. It's small, pleasant and friendly. At 2:00 PM they have a docent tour related to the art work. The tour lasts about an hour. We took it on a Sunday and it was very enjoyable as was the art work. On Saturday (check the time) they offer a house tour that explains the history of the Frick estate and Gold Coast Mansion that now houses the museum. After the art tour we wandered the museum and grounds for another hour. Very nice and not overwhelming in any way. At this writing there is an admission charge: Adults $10.00, Seniors (62+) $8.00, Students $4.00, Children (4-12) $4.00------- and parking fee of $2.00 in addition on weekends only.

A little tip if you're a Long Islander----many of the public libraries have free passes to this museum that are good for 2 adults and four children (in our case they accepted that pass for four seniors!). Get it and you have no admission fee (the weekend parking fee isn't covered by the pass)!

Speaking of children, every Sunday from 1:30PM to 4:00PM there is an wonderful arts and crafts program for children. There is no charge for the program. It's covered by the admission charge and, of course, if you have the library pass admission and the arts and crafts are free. All you need do is pay the $2.00 parking fee!!!

“Intimate Museum in an intimate town”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

If you happen to be in the area, a trip to the Nassau County Museum is a must. Small in comparison to many NYC museums, this museum carries a great array of notable art-work. The exhibitions are concise, manageable (avoid museum fatigue), and family friendly. Come for half a day. Take a hike along its many trails, read a book in its pristine gardens , or just come and enjoy the art.
