Comfortable, clean, and the service folks are attentive. But this property is 5-years past a renovation, likely due to local economic factors, just not feasible to sink money into it.

Located in downtown, nothing nearby except convention center and nearby business locations so clientele are primarily business people.

This is a retroactive post from the brief notes I kept on my cellphone. I stayed here with my boyfriend over the Civic holiday weekend (August 1-2) in 2011. We stayed in room 1718, which had a river view (but the vista was more parking lot than nature). We had a King bed, which was comfortable. No problems sleeping in it.

The Good:
This modern hotel is within walking distance to Dinosaur Barbq, a local hotspot known for it’s killer grill. We were not disappointed.
The hotel felt very modern and may have been newly renovated at the time we were there.
The Stayfit at Hyatt fitness facility was open late; we saw a couple in hot tub, a middle aged guy in the pool, and teens in the gym between 11-12pm.

The Bad
Parking is not included in the room rate (it’s an additional charge of $4).
Noisy doors (they slammed hard).

Staff Very attentive, friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. Nice gym. Small restaurant/bar. Food was good! Rooms, however, are tired and need to be redone and updated. Lighting in bathroom terrible!!! Location was perfect for us, but we were told, prior to getting there, not to venture outside to walk to a restaurant. Definitely not like other Hyatt Regency's.

We have stayed here many times and this hotel has never disappointed us. The property is clean. The parking garage is attached to the hotel. The rooms are clean and well appointed. You are within easy walking distance to the Dinosaur, Blue Cross Arena and Downtown Rochester. My only complaint is the wait for the elevators when this place gets busy. Otherwise this is a consistently-good hotel.

we stayed there many years ago when it first opened. it was beautiful. it now looks a bit worn, and some maintenance is needed. some has been done halfheartedly. the rooms are looking beat, but the restaurant is still nice. pricey though. good breakfast, and decent event rooms. doesn't stand up to other hyatts.

the entire staff couldnt have been nicer or more helpful. from the valet, bellman, front desk, manager, bartender & waitress were all attentive and kind offering their services instead of waiting for me to ask. the room was fine and the view and pool were fun to take in. i would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: ask for a higher floor if you enjoy viewing downtown areas.

I recently stayed at the Hyatt for a local concert at the Blue Cross Arena. I booked the concert tickets and hotel for my boyfriend's birthday. It was a short hour drive in from Buffalo and the hotel was easy to find. Parking was simple, validation of our parking pass provided discounted parking, which I didn't mind as the Blue Cross Arena is less than a 5min walk from the front door (as is the Dinosaur BBQ) and saved me additional gas/parking fees. I called the hotel around 1pm to advise we would not be checking in until 6pm and that I'd like to order chocolate covered strawberries for our room. In passing, I mentioned my boyfriend's birthday. Upon arrival the front desk staff was lively and polite. They proivded us with walking directions to the arena with no trouble. Our room appeared updated and very clean. Nice TV. And to my surprise they left a birthday card out for my boyfriend on the table with the strawberries. I was impressed the customer service rep even caught that information in our 5min phone conversation earlier in the day. We enjoyed dinner and drinks at the bar. The bartender was friendly. I really and truly cannot thank the Hyatt enough for how smoothly our romantic get-away went. It means a lot when you only have 24hrs to spend away from home and work and every moment counts. Thanks again!
