“Well done. Should be especially appealing to 8-13 year olds”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2014

Our collector's group arranged for us to visit the Museum during a free period before our meetings began. Although quite close to downtown, the museum is on a pleasant campus and offers free parking (this is a big plus). But the biggest surprise of all was the excellence of the exhibits and their well-done interactive features. Although we were just two senior citizens without much desire to partake of the interactive features, we felt that the museum would be quite fascinating to young children (from perhaps 8 years old on up to the early teens). Every exhibit we saw was beautifully done and well maintained. The interactive features were quite engaging and provided a good deal of simple but interesting information. If you're in Rochester with young kids and some time to spare, bring the kids here.

“A mixed bag with only a few truly memorable displays”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2014

I agree with another reviewer who said that the Rochester Museum and Science Center does not live up to its potential. Some curated exhibits were quite good. Others were pretty underwhelming. The special exhibit on movie monsters/robots/aliens consisted of text heavy displays and plastic life size models of the Alien from Aliens, Iron Man, and C3PO, perhaps. Honestly, it was not memorable. I recall only one interactive display in an exhibit that was marketed as high energy and active. On the other hand, the museum's collection of Native American artifacts was quite good. I also liked the large area for construction of towers and bridges out of Keva planks.

“hands on fun!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2014

Lots of hands on fun for kids & adults alike. Plenty of kids activities being run - was spring break when we visited, so it was quite busy. The science/geology was also related to the local area, making it all the more interesting as you could (if you wanted) get out to these places & see where mastadon bones had been found or go & walk along an esker. Just be aware that the admission fee doesn't include everything to do at the museum.

“Good to spend half day there”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2014

Compared to Strong Museum of Play, this museum is for bigger kids. There are less people and exhibits are for more mature kids. One can spend at least 2-3 hours there easily. I like the submarine simulation ride right by the front entrance.

RMSC is always great, I enjoy the museum quite a bit, the displays are well put together, I find them informative and engaging and the people who work there are nice. Great Iroquois collection!
