“A little odd, but perfect for certain types of people”
Reviewed April 11, 2013 via mobile

This place is very different. A pub to go enjoy a great beer while sitting in an easy chair in a parlor. Service is very friendly, prices on the high side, but its a neat place. If you want a change from the usual east end pace, this is a bar worth checkong out.

“different, but good”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

I really liked this place for how different it is from the other bars. Very laid back, casual. They have beer that you won't find anywhere else. It's basically the opposite of the other night clubs on East Ave.

“Okay for a beer, but not great.”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

I've had dinner here with friends a couple of times and, while I enjoy the ambience, I find the food is just okay and the beer and ale menu somewhat lacking. They do serve some cask ales, but the menu has a lot of the same old pours that I can get anywhere. I've also not been impressed with the service, which has forgotten major parts of our orders leaving us to sit for hours. So if you have never been here, but would like to try it, I'd recommend that you take a stool at the bar, have a beer, enjoy the ambience and then go have dinner and more drinks elsewhere in town.

“Unique to Rochester area”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

If you want the feel of a British Pub in upstate NY, then be certain to visit The Old Toad -- you will feel transported across the pond. With it's dark wood paneling, you will feel compelled to order a pint of Guinness and play a game of darts. Surprisingly the food is quite tasty, and is reasonably priced. However, uncomfortable seating along with wait staff who strictly ONLY pay attention to their tables/sections was frustrating. We sat for half of our visit trying to return our dinner and wine menus to staff and also sat for a length of time with empty dishes while staff quickly swiffed by. Even finding staff who would take our check/cash when our waiter was delayed with a large party took a bit of effort. It's really a shame that they don't pool their efforts/tips for a better overall experience.

“Love this Pub!”
Reviewed December 18, 2012

This is a great place to emerge yourself in a true English public house. Great selection of ales and beers both English and local. They also have a fine selection of Scotch whiskey to boot! Great English food! I had the Bangers and Mash, a Scotch Egg and a Ploughman's Cheeseboard. All was delicious. Played a round of darts as well but lost. Will definitely be back soon!
