I hate to heap even more praise on this sacred institution because I don't like everything about Wegmans, but this location in the Pittsford store is actually quite nice. The location could not be more convenient - at Pittsford Plaza - and you can pick up anything at the food bars or order in the cafe part. The best part is that you can get a glass of wine to go with your meal. Reasonable, convenient and pretty nice.

Okay, normally I would not waste my time (or yours) reviewing a grocery store. A GROCERY STORE! But, Wegmans is so much more than that, especially to the community of Rochester, New York. They have maintained a standard of excellence that has makes all other grocery stores seem cheap, unorganized, and dirty.

We have had visitors from many major US cities, as well as several European countries, and while initially they're reaction to the suggestion on visiting the local grocery story is weak, by the time they leave they are amazed. My brother was over the moon when he found a cheese made in Israel that he could not find anywhere else in the US. My former college roommate found German chocolate that she can't find anywere in NYC.

I find their prepared food section exceptional. And most likely most of Rochester agrees, as it is always full of customers hustling and bustling to grab a healthy meal for their families on their way home from work.

Their six dollar meals are ah-mazing! You get one meat and two sides or four vegetarian sides for six bucks. Very easy on the wallet! Their sushi is fresh and tasty. And their subs are to die for! (Another reviewer stated that they mimicked DiBella's subs. Funny. I find Wegman's subs much better tasting than DiBella's.)

I think TripAdvisor needs to reclassify Wegmans. It is not a restaurant and may be receiving negative reviews as a result of this error.

Another truly amazing place. Fresh food, huge variety, great service. We need one of these in England.

Wegman's is a wonderful supermarket - truly one of the best. However, the Market Cafe is not that great. The Chinese food is horrible and overpriced. The subs are a literal ripoff of DiBellas (who used to be in the grocery store until their contract ran out and then Wegman's just duplicated their secret - sneaky, eh?). The remainder of the offerings are good ... but remember this is not unlike the Walmart syndrome with a big block entity taking business away from small business and restaurant and deli owners. For what Wegman's gives you in convenience while shopping, it takes away from the surrounding community. It is better than a fast food chain (both in quality and ambience) but do not compare this to a restaurant. If you want coffee, go to a coffee house independently owned. If you want to eat, find a nice neighborhood independently owned restaurant. If your choice is between any of the chains and Wegman's - then Wegman's is the choice. If you are also buying groceries while there, don't buy Wegman's eggs - they come from chicken factories with horrendous conditions, Wegman's also should step up to the plate and label GMO food and dairy with antibiotics etc. in them. On the plus side - if you directly ask about additives in cheese, for instance, they will tell you and they are deserving of kudos for that.

wegmans is probably the finest in supermarkets anywhere. when people from out of town visit, they ask to see a wegmans. the choices are endless, and the cafe offers indian, chinese, paninis, italian, salads, soups, subs, hot and cold, pizza, and a host of other unusual offerings. fresh daily, and priced on the high side of reasonable for lunch. but very good. plenty on clean space to sit and enjoy, and wegmans staff are some of the best trained customer service folks anywhere, and i mean anywhere.
