“Known for dessert but don't forget dinner!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2014 via mobile

I have been here for coffee and dessert a couple of times and loved it!! They have a wide range of tortes and all types of desserts. I decided to give their food a try and was not disappointed. If you haven't tried them for dinner you should!

“Bland dinners, so just have dessert”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2014

Phillips European has a wonderful variety of desserts and good coffee. However, as a restaurant I rate the menu and cuisine on average with a dressy diner.

On a recent foursome outing to Phillips, we were seated promptly and served well, but the food was far below anticipation. Our bread was served fresh, but the butter patties were cold and hard from the refrigerator. The main entrees of quiche were generous and light, which one would expect of an egg and cheese quiche anywhere. For our chicken dinners (dijon, and french) we were given steak knives, and good thing: the chicken was obviously frozen not fresh, bland and flavorless despite the sauces, and tough. The side of vegetables were simple frozen carrot and snap peas, partly steamed.

Phillips menu is not extensive and has not changed much in years, but with another such disappointing dinner I see no reason to return for anything more than dessert.

“Best dessertes in the world...good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2014

Phillips European is a gem in the middle of a strip mall in Henrietta...very unexpected. The food is pricy and good but what is really impressive is the coffee and dessert. Having travelled around the world, I can genuinely say that it is one of the best places in the world!! A perfect place for a special night or just to stop in or take home dessert. If you are wondering what to do for that special person in your life as a nice Thank You...this is it!!! They will not soon forget.

“Nothing Better in Rochester!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2014

Have been to Phillips many times over the last 15-20 years. Hands down my favorite "fine dining" spot in the area. Both my parents liked it very much too & ate there often… and my dad had very demanding standards for restaurants. In his later years he became quite a discerning critic and always took guests there because he knew he could rely on getting delicious well-prepared food and superlative service [which for him was really more important]. Dad was always willing to overlook occasional faults with food, as long as the service more than made up for it. Although at Phillips I've never had anything to complain about in the food department, and I don't think Dad ever did either. You feel very important and valued at Phillips. Every member of the waitstaff is genuinely warm, friendly, sincere and clearly enjoys their work. There is none of that “angling for a good tip” vibe that you run into so often. Moreover they know their menu extremely well, can answer questions and make informed recommendations. In short, they’re professionals. Now… about the food. The menu suits me perfectly because I prefer simpler foods and there is nothing on the current Phillips menu that is odd or “flashy” - just a well-rounded offering of delicious food. Beef, steaks, filets, chicken and pork dishes, pastas, seafood and a few vegetarian items. Standouts for me personally are the Caesar salad, the tenderloin of beef with gorgonzola and walnut sauce, the artichokes French and the best made whiskey sour in the city! And maybe the most important thing to know about Phillips is this: SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT. You can check out most of them when you arrive as the first thing you see on walking in is a big glass case full of cakes, pies, tortes, cheesecakes and other delicious sweet treats. Every single item I’ve ever had was sheer sugared perfection! If you simply can’t manage a dessert after your meal, do not miss the opportunity to take something home with you. You will not regret a visit to Phillips [and be prepared to become addicted].

went there after the dinner. Got two pieces of cake. One is called venese and the other is desert special cheese cake. I would say the desert special is really good. Want to go there again.
