A surprise location birthday dinner by my husband for me led us to Grinnell's. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by the valet to park our car. Our host foud our reservation and we were offered to go to the bar area first or to be seated immediately. We went to our table.
Service overall was friendly and prompt by our server and additional attention by water & bread servers, clearers, etc. Orders were taken promptly and we were allowed proper amounts of time for each course, we felt all were attentive, but not rushed.
Both entrees were delicious and cooked just right to our liking. We were offered a dessert menu, but opted not to choose, and our entrees did include either ice cream or sherbet to finish. Overall a nice experience, and will definitely consider again for a nice occasion out, it is abit on the pricier side for us, so we would not go often, but if you are looking for a nice, special time out, this is definitely a great consideration for you!

Although we have lived in Rochester for 11 years, we made our first visit to Grinnells last Saturday night. It was a very nice evening. We went with our inlaws. You will have to use the valet parking, but there is no set fee. The restaurant was full of people , with an active bar. The clientele is older, and obviously many of them have been there many times. They have steak and the usual suspects on the menu. We all ended up ordering the prime rib, since it is a dish none of us cook at home and one does not find it on many menus. They came with potatoes and veggies, and a couple ordered the small Caesar salads.mimhad wild rice and chicken soup as my appetizer. The soup was quite good, but the others found the Caesar dressing to be lacking. The prime rib. Was Rey tasty, and they did an excellent job of cooking them correctly. A small dessert is included, and I would recommend the raspberry sherbet. Very flavorful. The wine selection was good, as was the service. The only complaint we had, other than the Caesar dressing, is that the waiter asked if we wanted mushrooms on our prime rib without mentioning that there was a small charge. That did not sit well with me. We will definitely go again, and not after 10 more years.

This restaurant has been serving Rochester for some 40 years. Rick and David will make you feel at home each and every time you step through the door. A great big welcome followed by exceptional service and very consistent food.

Have been there many times over the years. Friendly and attentive staff, good food, I like their new Lighter Menu page. It's the only place I've been to in Rochester where they apply proper etiquette - Grinnell's wait staff only removes dinner plates when EVERYONE at the table is finished. It's no fun being the last person to finish and having everyone else's plates removed. Sure makes you feel like everyone is just waiting for your to hurry up and finish. I applaud their proper training in waiting to clear plates until everyone are finished. It's also a rare restaurant where they know your name and your "usual" drink order but this is common at Grinnell's. It costs nothing and means everything. Very classy people.
