We (6 guest) arrived at Tony D's and we had a waite of approximatly 40 minuts. The establishment was very busy, always a good sign. the hostes was quite nice and accomidating to every party waiting to be seated. The food was exceptionaly delisous and well presented. the chef Jay Speranza is creative and dedicated to his food and his ability to inter act with the patrons. wood fired pizza was the best in Rochester, his chicken wings were a special treat, along with dinner specials. We were able to sit on the padio over looking tthe Geneese River. to cap off the night with a little samboca. Truely a delightful experiance.

Spent a lovely Friday evening in August 2012 on the covered patio overlooking the river at Tony D’s, a new restaurant in the historic, upscale Corn Hill section of Rochester. This restaurant is insanely crowded during prime dining hours on weekends and doesn’t take reservations for parties under 6, so we went before 6PM, got one of the few remaining parking spots, and were seated immediately.

Our table ordered wine and beer, appetizers and dinner entrée specials which came to about $50 apiece. If you stick with the pizza (which we didn’t try), you can get away for a lot less.

We all tried the arancini appetizer which was spectacular – crispy fried risotto rice balls with prosciutto and mozzarella in an olive oil/pesto sauce. We all ordered dinner specials instead of menu items. Some of us had 10 oz. filet mignon (as tender in the mouth as a pat of butter) on a bed of spinach with roasted potatoes. Others of us had Zuppa di Pesce, a deliciously seasoned stew of scallops, clams, and giant shrimp. (I ordered by saying, “That zuppida mer one that you said last.” Don’t pass this one up just because you’re embarrassed that you can’t say it! It’s delicious.)

There was a fine selection of bottled beer but nothing on draft. Choices of wine by the glass were good.

The river view was delightful and we watched the wooden tour boat “Mary Jemison” turn in the river and dock with her contingent of passengers, and afterwards we strolled along the riverwalk.

A great place for delicious Italian cuisine in a lovely locale. As out-of-towners, we were lucky our hosts were already acquainted with this trendy newcomer.
