Owner description: As one of the world’s premier music schools, the Eastman School of Music has been enriching the musical life of Rochester since 1921. Today, the School presents more than 700 concerts a year in the magnificent Eastman Theatre, intimate Kilbourn Hall, and the modern Hatch Recital Hall – providing the Rochester community with an exceptional opportunity to experience world-class music in a world-class setting. The School’s rich and diverse concert season features prominent guest artists, our own acclaimed faculty, and our incredibly talented students and ensembles. No matter what type of music you prefer, you’re certain to hear it at Eastman: Classical, jazz, and opera. Symphonic and chamber music. Early music, new music, world music – there is something for everyone! The general public is welcome at all Eastman concerts and performances. Remarkably, most concerts are free; those that are not are modestly priced.

“World Class Entertainment Right Here in Rochester”

If you have never been to the Eastman Theatre and are planning a trip, you are in for a real treat. This beautiful theatre is the home of the world renown Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Being that Rochester is the home of the highly regarded Eastman School of Music, we are blessed with a reputation as being a real music town. This is well earned as evidenced by the highest caliper concerts performed by the orchestra week after week. My husband and I attend many performances year after year and have always been blown away but their high level of musicianship and wonderfully varied programs. There really are conerts performed for everyone, from classical to jazz, to pop and world music. You will not be disappointed no matter what style of music you choose to hear performed by one if the finest orchestras in the country.

“New York City quality”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

Performances here rival Carnegie Hall. The ambiance of this classic theatre and its related halls is inspiring. It is an honor to have this facility so accessible to most people.

“The RPO Rocks!”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra is unbelievably entertaining. I particularly like the Pops Series with Jeff Tyzic directing/arranging/composing. They can play anything. Last weekend they had a guest conductor and singer from England who had the RPO play 25 songs that had appeared in James Bond films--as a tribute to the upcoming academy awards. In addition to the quality of the orchestra, the building is an architectural gem...great acoustics and a chandelier that you just have to see to believe. It is a very reasonably priced treat on a cold winter's night. And their summer home is in the Finger Lakes Wine country at CMAC-sitting on a grassy hill or under the shell with a little wine and music --could not be better.

Always top notch entertainment, more young people should give it a try! A nationally, maybe world ranked orchestra. The pops series always fun.
