“Beautiful art in a beautiful setting”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

We always go to the special exhibits at the Gallery and every time we say we're going to go back and just spend a day wandering around this magnificent place. The size is so manageable and all the exhibits are laid out in a very accessible manner. I never feel totally exhausted and overwhelmed when I visit here like in some art galleries. Sitting among the statues in the main courtyard area near the entrance is a lovely spot to people watch. The gift shop has very unique and special items for either gift giving or for treating yourself. They've recently redesigned the outside of the gallery which will warrant another visit very soon. The area near the gallery has many restaurants and shops and the Rochester Public market is right around the corner.

“A little gem-5000 years of art and cultural history”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

An excellent collection of American, European, and ancient art. Outstanding special exhibits. Baroque organ concerts Sundays by Eastman School of Music professors and graduate students. A lovely cafe. We buy all our gifts at the museum shop. The outside sculpture garden is opening in the spring. It will be a wonderful community gathering place as well as a place for individual reflections while strolling on poet's walk. AND tapas on Thursday nights with live music and half price entrance fee.

“Nice, but nothing special”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

A nice eclectic mix of art, but doesn't hold a candle to the Albright Knox in Buffalo. The annual Clothesline Festival is a great arts & crafts show, though the juried annual carfts show is much better quality albeit much smaller. World class crafts people in both.

“Fantastic museum for Rochester”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

A great museum, with a nice touch of local flavor. The artists and classics represented are impressive. It is normally peaceful and serene; a great place to relax, reflect, and enjoy culture.
