“Great food, not so great waitress”
Reviewed August 17, 2013 via mobile

Let me start off by saying the food was delicious! I went with a group of 6. Waitress first forgot to hand out menu's, then when she remembered she handed us one menu to share? She forgot our soup and salad. Then she forgot our spoon for the soup. Finished my drink before our meal came, and not once did she offer refills. I actually don't believe she came to check on us except to take our order, when our meal arrived, and when she handed us the check.

Though the waitress wasn't so good, the food was amazing. I think we'll be back!

“Good sushi, nice place”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

Finally went in here (love sushi) and found the food to be very good. Unfortunately was seated next to a rather obnoxious "regular" that felt completed to share her opinion about every item on the menu.

“Okay”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

I guess this place is Okay but it is not my favorite. We started coming here after they closed down our favorite Hibachi place. The server is friendly, but her English isn't very good. The Restaurant is a bit pricey and some of the chefs aren't the best. One time my daughter ordered a chicken and the meat was stringy and tough, and tasted pretty bad, we would much rather go to another joint.

“Don't Miss the "Kitchen" Items”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

Sure the hibachi show can be fun with a group, and the sushi here is decent, but our favorites are often some of the items from the kitchen. These are typically less expensive and more characteristic of what is served in the average Japanese home. We are fond of the "Don" items and the Udon broth noodle dishes, particularly Katsu Don and Nabeyaki Udon. Both are flavorful and filling without breaking the bank. If we want to splurge we may get a few pieces of sushi on the side. Service at the Tokyo is always personable and efficient, but you must realize that English is often not the first language of the servers. Many times the Tokyo has various discount coupons available around town, and they will typically let us use them more than once to encourage more traffic.

“Fun Meal & Good Value”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

My group of friends came here on a whim, with little info about the place, and left pleasantly surprised. We all got a combination of Hibachi & sushi.

The hibachi made for a great show---the chef knew what he was doing and kept the group (many of whom had never had hibachi before) engaged and smiling the whole time.

The food itself was good---no complaints and if I were in Rochester & looking for hibachi in the future, would certainly come back. The drinks are also quite a bit of fun, too, if you're looking for some unique cocktails!

Lastly, the price, for hibachi, was very, very good! The same meal that cost $15.00 here would be twice as much at home, or even more in other cities.
