IF you follow my reviews you'll notice I like small discovered places. French Quarter Cafe fits that genre. I heard about it from a friend and figured what the heck. Pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. There were 4 of us at dinner, 3 ordered etiouffe (2 chicken and 1 crawfish) and 1 ordered shrimp creole. All were incredibly flavorful and delicious. At the next table over we spied an order of cajun catfish and decided we are trying that next time. And there most certainly will be a next time.

“some hiccups, but worth the wait”
Reviewed July 26, 2011

I've been to the French Quarter cafe twice now. The first time I had a reservation and went later in the evening on a date. It was almost empty; there was a large graduation party and a few other couples. The restaurant is in a great location off Park Ave in a converted house. The tables and chairs are a bit wobbley and it can be loud if you are seated near a large group. Vibrant paint and artwork reminiscent of New Orleans/Mardi Gras decor.
This is a family run place - the owner and his wife are the cook and waittress/hostess. Service can be a bit spotty if there are several tables at once, and they do not have a liquor license so be sure to bring a bottle of wine if you want some with dinner (no corking fee). The food is excellent - particularly the meat pies (like empanadas), the dirty rice, and the ettoufee. Prices are exceptionally reasonable for the amount of food. You will leave stuffed.
Don't go starving as you sometimes have to wait.
Bring a bottle of wine if you want it (but you have to drink it all while you are there).

“Authentic New Orleans at great prices!”
Reviewed November 30, 2010

Recently moved from the West side, this cafe has found its own just off of Park Avenue. Delicious authentic creole cooking (not cajun) is served up in an attractively decorated historic house. Prices are rediculously low! Service can be a little spotty if they get busy, but the food is worth the wait!!
