Several new births this spring have made the zoo a fun attraction, especially the lion cubs. I enjoy photography and consider this a destination for this challenges of capturing the perfect shot of animals. This zoo has improved so much over the years and a a real asset to Rochester. Wish my grandchildren were closer so I could bring them often.

“Nothing special zoo”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2013

Majority of animals were "hiding" the day we were there. I've been here many times over the years and its feels pretty much the same no matter what improvements are made. Many cities have a much larger area to work with. If you've been to a great zoo, then you are in for a disappointment because this isn't it.

“A little zoo with a big personality.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013 via mobile

One of many regional gems and a must see for animal lovers and families with children of any age. From May- Oct be sure the kids have sandals and shorts and bring a few cheap plastic boats to float down the Genesee River Trail. There are always babies somewhere and the docents love to share animal secrets. The baboons will keep you entertained while you wait for the lion cubs to make an appearance. Catch the elephants going through their routines with their handlers and be sure you don't miss the free flight bird show. It takes a leisurely 3-4 hours to see the whole place. Catch lunch at the Landing Cafe or bring your own cooler.

“Always interesting things to see”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2013

I love going to the Seneca Park Zoo. It's a small zoo, so it's easy to manage, but it has a wide variety of interesting animals. Many of their animals are the type that have high profile interest, such as penguins, tigers, wolves, polar bears, and elephants. This year is particularly exciting as there have been a large number of births, including two lion cubs, a baby orangutan, and a baby sea lion. At the Rocky Coast exhibit you can watch the sea lions and polar bears from above or below the water when they're swimming, which is always a mesmerizing sight. The zoo has enough spots to purchase food to keep you satisfied, and enough bathrooms to keep you comfortable. Children will enjoy their "playground" area, as well as their man-made stream which beckons bare feet on a hot day. The Zot Spot is hands-on learning at its best for children, providing materials for a make believe animal hospital, puzzle pieces to design your own zoo, and more. Docents at the zoo are all well informed and able to answer any question you may have about the animals. The Seneca Park Zoo can meet the needs for whatever age group you have and, because of its size, it's easy to spend as much or as little time there as you have available to you. It will always be a fun visit.

“Fun in the sun!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2013

Great place to go on the few days of full sun and temperate breezes! This zoo is a good walking zoo, not too long, but a good workout if you want one. Easy to do in a few hours as well. Very nice exhibits that are changing regularly and the people there are fantastic - always willing to explain the animals, habitat or give a history of the particular animal in the enclosure. Great little splash park and play area for busy kids too! Right next to the little food stand - it costs more, but hey, it supports the zoo!
