There's a reason this hotel is rated the #1 hotel in Rochester!
I recently stayed here with my boyfriend for 5 days, 4 nights and it was a great stay! Upon driving to the hotel initially, I was a little concerned as I realized it was on the outskirts of Rochester and not directly in the city. However, it wasn't a problem at all. It's right off the highway and a quick 8 minute drive will get you back into the heart of Rochester if you're looking to do things there.
When we first checked in we were sent to a king studio suite and were quickly changed to a one bedroom king suite due to a minor issue (thanks so much to Karen for taking care of us!). Having seen both room types now, I actually think I prefer the setup of the studio suite as it seems more spacious and open. The one bedroom suite would be nice if you're concerned about privacy, if maybe you have a family with parents sleeping in the bedroom and kids in the living room. It's also good if you want 2 TV's! :) Both suites were nice, it's just a matter of personal preference!
We ended up on the fourth floor (out of five) and never had any problems with noise from above, below or next door, which was great. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was clean. We didn't end up using the kitchen area as we were always out and about but it's a nice amenity to have.
ALL of the staff that both myself and my boyfriend encountered were extremely friendly. Every single employee acknowledged us and said "good morning", etc. with a smile. As someone else pointed out, it seemed that they were all sincere and not just going through the motions. It made for pleasant trips down the hallway or into the lobby. Generally, it just seemed like everyone in the area (in the hotel and out) was nice and friendly!
The complimentary breakfast was good and what's to be expected from a Homewood - I always enjoy the waffle maker! We always went down about a half hour before breakfast was ending and there was always plenty of food and plenty of seating, which was a welcome surprise.
We stayed from a Thursday to Monday, so I can't speak for the complimentary dinner as we got in late Thursday night and left Monday morning. However, I'd assume it's the same as breakfast - good!
Other things to note: The front desk attendant gave us honest opinions of places to go out and eat or get delivery from, and offered directions which was nice! We didn't use the pool but it looked clean and it wasn't an overcrowded hotel pool like some are, as we barely saw anyone using it. Probably because there's so many other things to do in the area if you're a first timer!
If you have time and you're in the area, definitely take a day trip to Niagara Falls! We did, and it was the best experience by far. It took us about an hour and a half to get there because we took the scenic roads - and about an hour to get back on the highway - it was well worth it! We also did a day of museums, High Falls and a baseball game at Frontier Field (all a quick drive away in Rochester).
Needless to say, I would definitely stay here again when visiting the area! Great hospitality, comfy accommodations, excellent location. Couldn't ask for much more!
