We took the kids to the aquarium for a nice for a nice family outing on Saturday. They had a great time exploring at all the exibits. We had received tickets to the butterfly exhibit as a christmas present (exhibit was quite expensive, so we are glad that we had the gift). They really loved seeing the butterflies and birds up-close. They thought it was hilarious that the butterflies kept landing on their mother's head. Did not get to see the sealion show because it was raining and we did not want to have them out in the open air arena sitting on the wet seats. The shark tank was a huge hit and they loved feeding the rays out by the main entrance.

2 things to note: 1st, it can be very crowded around midafternoon, especially if there is no school or if it is a weekend. You should definitely try for earlier in the day or on a weekday when all of the kids will be in school.
2nd, the only non-emergancy exit from the aquarium is through the gift shop. Be prepared to divert your kid's attention on your way through, or you may end up having to spend a pretty penny on their overpriced wares.

We opted to buy the 1-year members passes because we knew the kids would have a great time and it is a much better deal than buying a day pass. We will definitely be going back, though we will be trying for a weekday next time.

It is a small aquarium, but we love it. We got a special from TravelZoo for the tickets. The weather is very cold, and I think we will come back in the summer time. Love the otters and Stingrays! You can feed the stingrays and they are very hungry! LOL!

Very nice aquarium. Good variety of fish and other animals. Great for kids. Best to visit in summer when you can see the outside exhibits. Pricey.

My daughter (1 1/2 at the time) loved watching the unique marine life in the tanks, feeding the Manta Rays, and enjoyed the cafe and the penguins as well. While the food was not very memorable, we didn't go there for the food, so it really didn't matter to us. I will never forget her face plastered against the tank in awe of all of the colors and creatures! Now that she is 4 and our son is 5 months, we are planning another trip this coming summer. Looking forward to it, and certainly worth a visit with your children for a day trip out to Riverhead!
