“Pleasant, clean hotel with friendly, efficient staff; lousy dinner”
Reviewed August 20, 2010

We stayed for 5 nights on Hilton Reward points. It is a new, clean, comfortable and well-run hotel. We found it a convenient location for exploring both the North fork of LI (especially the wineries) and the South fork beaches. (We visited friends in the Hamptons.) The only puzzle is how a hotel that serves such generous, outstanding breakfasts can serve such truly awful dinners. We had dinner there the first night (after a long drive) and the last night (because we had returned from a long drive to and from Montauk). As an example, my wife and I had the filet mignon (we had had tasteless chicken for our first dinner - so how, we figured, can you ruin a steak). They were ordered medium and medium-rare, but both came well overcooked. They were covered with a sauce that had been burnt and gave the steaks a bitter, unpleasant flavor. Everything else matched the steak. At over $75 for the 2 of us (with a drink each and tip) this was way overpriced. Hardly anyone eats dinner in the hotel restaurant - perhaps they know about it.

I give this hotel a lousy review because it really is not a convenient hotel for anything except getting onto the LIE. Everything we wanted to do was to the east, and to go east we had to go west. BAD planning!! Also, the walls appear to be paper thin, since we could clearly hear the family staying in the room next door to us and frankly I could care less if the kid didn't want to take a bath! The bed was extremely uncomfortable, which is very disappointing after experiencing (and loving) the Hampton beds. My husband and I both adjusted the air in the bed several times before giving up. In addition, the sheets didn't seem to fit, and I woke up completely wrapped in the fitted bottom sheet. And it showed there was no mattress pad on the bed, which gave me a case of the "icks"

The only redeeming values to this hotel were the people, who were very nice, and the cleanliness.

NOTE: if you go, make sure you double check your charges!! We were overcharged, not once, but TWICE for our breakfast. One time by $6 and the second time by $14. They fixed it, but it shouldn't have happened.

I am sorry that you did not learn about our Garden Sleep System during your stay as it our signature bedding system that has features such as adjustable comfort (we set it as a standard to medium) and a lambs wool bed liner. We also do have mattress pads that are the same color as the sheets and it may have been missed as the housekeepers exchange all linens when turning over the rooms so for that I do apologize. We have an in room comfort guide that gives instructions on how to use the bed and our desk clerks also are trained to tell you about the bedding. As for loud neighbors this is something we cannot completely control and I would suggest in future visits to any hotel you contacting the front desk and if you did we would contact the guest in your behalf.

We stayed here one night after a Tanger shopping trip (right across the street).
I had a great night sleep, very comfy beds. The hotel had friendly staff and was clean, modern, and safe. Great location to shoping. The next morning after check out, we drove out to the farms (not too long of a drive).

After 5 days in Manhattan, we stayed with our family of five in the Hilton Garden Inn for 3 days. Service was excellent; rooms are big, very clean and have comfortable beds. The children were very happy at the Tanger outlet. It is on the other side of the highway. The hotel has a shuttle to the outlet. Emi, the charming French/American restaurant supervisor, provided us with the right information to explore the North and South Fork. She even arranged our stretched-Limo to JFK!

A large group of us stayed at the Garden Inn for a wedding. The front desk was great, the maintenance/maids were great. as were the restaurant personnel. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful and make us comfortable.

Another plus was that the Tanger Mall is was right across the street.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights and found the hotel it'self to be very nice. The staff were very polite and helpfull. Our room was clean and well
appointed - for all you computer types - there business center is 24-hour.

The one problem is the location, it is NOT very close to any restrauants and
although the Tanger Outlet is accross the "street", because of the way the roads are set-up - you are unable to just walk accross the streets to get there. The hotel does have it's own restraurant with pretty good food, but the hours are limited. You can get a good buffet breakfast for about $6 per person.

All & All, this is one of the better hotels my wife & I have stayed at and if you
do not mind having to use your car to go places, it is a very good place to stay. We did not see any children, but are stay was during a school week.

Thank you for your feedback. As a growing city we expect more restaurants to become available to our travelers. We have recently had the town of Riverhead expand the roadway in front of our hotel and have extended the sidewalk to the crosswalk to Tanger. Your comments are helpful in us getting better and we hope to see you again soon!

Spent a night at the Hilton Garden Inn with my spouse just recently when traveling to Long Island for a wedding. We had the unique opportuinity to try the Holiday Inn Express across the street the night before, so we were truly able to compare the 2 hotels. Our 1st nigh at the Holiday Inn we were up til 230am due to hallway partying. Compartively the bed at the Hilton is amazing. The memory foam is just awesome. My wife and I both remarked that we hadn't slept that well in months. Other positives include the flat screen tvs, large showers, indoor pool, and new/clean nature of the hotel. Negatives would be the small gym, tough location as you can't make a left out of the hotel and have to drive about 1 mile then do a u-turn to reverse direction, no free breakfast like their competitor across the street, no free internet, no morning newspaper. But if you are there to sleep, you will absolutely love the bed and your stay.
