From start to finish we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away with our close friends Staying at Whistlewood was such a delightful experience. Maggie, the innkeeper, has thought of everything .She is warm, friendly and helpful to all of her guests. The accommodations are charming( we stayed in the Wyoming room). Our meals were delicious with a wide variety to choose from each morning.Don't miss out on those fresh eggs! After checking out the town during the day, it was so nice to head back to the inn to relax before dinner. Maggie again was there to greet us and make suggestions on our dinner arrangements. We were also fortunate to have met several lovely families during our stay. A thoroughly memorable weekend.- sure to return. Ellen & Michael K

Thank you so very much for your lovely review, it is a pleasure to have guests that are happy to be here and also enjoy the area. The village of Rhinebeck has so much to offer, in dining as well as unique shops with great Christmas gift ideas of wonderful quality and value. Your personalities made the weekend more fun for everyone of my guests. Thank you again! Come back soon, every season has a special something for you to enjoy.

We traveled to NY on the Friday after Thanksgiving to attend a wedding reception Friday night. We decided to stay at the WhisleWood for two nights so we would have some extra time to explore the area. When we arrived at the Farm we were greeted by Maggie who introduced us to several of the other guests before showing us to our room. Our room was very cozy, clean and comfortable. After we got settled in we chatted with Maggie a bit more to get her recommendations for things to do on Saturday. When we awoke on Saturday we were delighted with a hearty breakfast of bacon, farm fresh eggs, French toast, freshly baked muffins and an assortment of breads, pastries, fresh fruit and pies. After breakfast we strolled around the farm and were able to feed the chickens, horses and donkeys, what a treat! We spent the day on Saturday touring the Vanderbilt Estate and walking around the center of Rhinebeck. Maggie had given us several good recommendations for shops to visit and her restaurant recommendations for lunch and dinner were both winners. When we returned to the Farm in the evening we were able to relax in front of the fireplace with a glass of wine and some quiet conversation. Maggie, who seemed to be constantly on the go taking care of her guests, was able to sit for a while and enjoy a glass of wine and talk with us about the joys and difficulties of being an Innkeeper. On Sunday morning we were treated to another sumptuous breakfast before undertaking the unwanted task of packing up to leave. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the WhistleWood Farm and we will definitely return even if we don't have a wedding to go to.

wow im surprized theres so many positive posts .personaly i thought it lacked a few basic things you would expect when you pay 250.00 a night . firstly its a converted ranch style house and the walls where thin and we heard people very easily in the next room . i.e. in the shower . toilet flush .. no tv . i dont need much tv but its nice to turn it on before bedtime and check the news . the dvd player in the room didnt work .. we were gonna watch a movie one night forget that . the bath towels smelled musty .. hate that !!... i thought the host was a bit judgemental also about our dogs..as she made a comment'' well i hope they dont kill anything '' i have two well behaved pit mixes. very social sorts they have some chickens running around the property. the only reason we went here in the first place is because we had the dogs with us . i would'nt go back ..breakfast was ok but dont take to much or she'll let you have it with both barrels..

OUCH! Never judge a book by its cover. You seemed like such a nice young couple...
To answer your accusations in order.
1. This is a country ranch style house built by a Texan 60 years ago, not "converted". I have added some more wood to the mix and brought the beamed ceilings out to the porch and the north sun room where folks enjoy breakfast.
2. We have insulated and placed toilets and showers away from adjacent walls so it is as quiet as possible, I'm sorry that you heard any noise and apologize.
3.Television- we do not have or advertise that there is TV in any rooms accept the family room.
if the DVD or VCR was not working you could have asked and we would have been happy to show you how it works.
4. Towels were "musty" Ouch again! " I hate that too", Just ask and the problem would have been solved. We do our laundry here and have not had this comment before. We usually give you fresh towel each day if you have used any so they are fresh and not rehung.
5. The Pit Bull Mixes, my dog "Jake" the Bernese mountain dog was playing with them as I remember and they were having fun too. I apologize if my kidding around was taken the wrong way. I actually have had a guests "little white terrier" tear a wing off of a Rooster which then the Roosted had to be put to sleep. So now we let our chickens out to free range only when someone is at the barn area to watch that hawks, foxes and stray dogs don attack them which has happened on all accounts. They are out between 9:00 and 11:00 and 3:00 to 4:30 I think I mentioned that so you could take the dogs down to the Barn area.
6. I am sorry that I was insensitive in what I said, your dogs were very well behaved and you seemed relaxed with my kidding around at breakfast I honestly had no idea that I was offending either one of you. Please accept my apology.

What a fabulous place to stay!! Maggie, the Innkeeper, has thought of everything you could want in a home away from home. We lucked out and got to stay in the Wyoming Room-excellent in every way. The full breakfast, an entire dessert table available 24/7, as well as drinks (hot & cold), was more than any other place we've stayed. The animals and walking trails were just a bonus. We cannot wait to return for a longer stay next time.

Thank you for the great review we really appreciated you coming to the farm and enjoying it so very much. Often people don't visit with the animals who are so friendly and like the attention.
I'm also very happy that you walked our trails, we have been grooming them for years now and made some benches for sitting and watch the wildlife. Hope to see you all again in the future.

We love this part of the Hudson Valley, and Whistlewood is as good as it gets here. It is impeccably maintained. The room is comfortable. Breakfast is delicious, fresh, and lots of it. Delicious food is available throughout the day. The horses and other animals are a big plus. This is definitely worth a repeat visit.

We just returned to Pennsylvania after three glorious days and nights at Whilstlewood Farm Bed and Breakfast. The property is exquisite and very-well maintained. Our expansive room in the main house was so luxurious and included a deep, soaking jacuzzi tub in the large private bathroom; we loved the king-size plush bed, sitting areas, and outside patio that gets the noon sun. We basked right alongside the sweet kitties that showed up to visit. There were several beautiful horses in the pastures that enjoyed our petting and treats. We also fed the chickens the scraps from breakfast. And now a word about Maggie, our hostess: she is so welcoming a presence and cooks the best breakfasts anywhere: pancakes, waffles, warm muffins right out of the oven, bacon, sausage, and the freshest eggs anywhere--right from the hen den. There are also cakes, pies, fresh fruit, breads, cereals, granolas, etc--just about anything one could imagine. In the cool of the evening a crackling fire can be enjoyed in the parlor of the main house. We always meet such interesting people and enjoy the chit-chat. We miss it already!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are lovely.

We spent just one night but could easily spend more - next time. The farm is quiet and peaceful. Our room in the Carriage House was quiet and cosy, its furnishings tasteful. In warmer weather its secluded patio would have been a great place to sit and read. Our hostess was most friendly and made a great breakfast - eggs to order, pancakes, sausage, fruit salad, cereal, muffins, and pretty much anything else you might want - between 8:30 and 10:00. And there are beautiful horses to admire and pet.
