“Rustic Charm”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

Walk into the main lodge and enjoy the smell of the daily muffins or pies baking in the oven, bacon sizzling on the stove! Maggie or Tracy are there to greet you with a smile and warmth that automatically makes you feel comfortable and happy to be there.
If you arrive in the evening the smell of a crackling fire welcomes you with sounds of soft music in the background!
The rooms are tastefully decorated and full of rustic charm. All rooms except one have private bathrooms.
It is 3 miles from town and a great walk if you are so inclined.
You can feed the horses and donkeys an apple if you like and will certainly hear the resident rooster throughout the day!
Breakfast is served, your choice, every morning and there is a plethora of home baked goods, fresh fruit and homemade jams.
You can enjoy an afternoon sweet as well, they are always available, even foe a midnight snack!!
The gals will give you some dinner suggestions or information on the local sites.
We had a great time, cannot wait to visit again.

Room Tip: There are only a few but the ones in the main lodge and the carriage house with their own Fireplac...

Our stay at WhistleWood was absolutely wonderful. It is located on a beautiful tranquil lot just a couple miles outside of Rhinebeck Village and offers easy access to the shops and villages but also a natural haven for R&R. The Juniper Room was very spacious and the whole place is incredibly clean. Plus there are plenty of shared spaces for lounging. We spent time on the rockers in the front porch watching the horses and chickens and in one of the sitting rooms enjoying sweet treats from the homemade goodies table relaxing in front of a roaring fire. This place was really super and Maggie, the owner was incredibly friendly and helpful with places to try and things to do. I would definitely recomend the WhistleWood Farm B&B and hope to visit again myself!

My boyfriend and I felt right at home here! It was conveniently located to Rhinebeck village and other Hudson Valley spots. Whistlewood is very charming and warm. Perfect mix of charm and modern conveniences. You really find yourself in beautiful surroundings both inside and outside the house. Our room was very clean, quiet and private. We especially enjoyed that the kitchen was stocked with healthy delicious snacks for guests to enjoy at anytime. Breakfast was something else...Maggie went out of her way to make a creative and tasty scrambled eggs and fresh fruit waffles. In addition there were warm fresh baked muffins and a great selection of fruits.

My husband and I returned for our second visit to this beautifully done, WhistleWood Farm and enjoyed our privacy in the guest cottage separate from the main house. The room was lovely, spacious, nicely decorated and super clean! We slept with all the windows and door open..cool and totally quiet. It all is so very inviting, especially to walk the grounds, see the chickens and horses out and in the 'perfect' barns. Maggie's breakfasts are scrumptious and overflowing. It is amazing to eat eggs right from the farm daily...so fresh! My Tom loved his sweets and treats that Maggie does in a magnificent country kitchen and great room. We LOVE coming here..next time to stop and rest a bit after travelling. Weclome home.

Whistlewood Farm is a warm and magical place. We found it in July when we decided to stay over after enjoying a wonderful day in Rhinebeck. Maggie, the farm owner, went out of her way to help us out on a very busy weekend. When we arrived she gave us a tour of the beautiful gardens and meadows complete with horses, a donkey, chickens and 2 cows. The rooms are also charming, accented with interesting artifacts and outfitted with all of the sundries that anyone would need on an overnight. In the morning Maggie made the most delicious breakfast we have had in some time with farm fresh eggs and waffles made to order. You can tell that Maggie loves Whistlewood Farm and she wants her guests to experience the same joy in being there. She is fun to talk with and very knowledgeable on interesting things to do in the area, but she is also respectful of everyone's privacy. We had such a good time that we carved out another weekend to drive back to this wonderful sanctuary just North of Manhattan, but a world away with ingratiating kindness and service.

We arrived in early September when the coneflowers were still in bloom. The first views past the horse barn were like a fairy tale. The 24x7 hospitality buffet was overflowing with fresh homemade pies, tortes, and muffins. Breakfast is gourmet fresh food; herbs and produce from the garden, free range fresh eggs from the hens. If your idea of relaxation is a stroll and a quiet chat with a horse at their box stall window, or bird watching from the veranda, bookmark this page and book your stay here

If you want a lovely retreat in the Hudson River Valley, this is the place to go. Horses, donkeys, and chickens on a large property, along with plenty of peace and quiet. Tracey's food is wonderful. The eggs come from those chickens, the baking is delicious, and I think I put on 2 lbs, and loved doing it, too. We stayed in the Carriage House with our spacious room and our own private little deck. Fed the chickens, checked out the other critters. The inn is dog-friendly, and kids would like it too. Maggie, the owner, is most gracious and welcoming. Downtown Rhinebeck is only 3 miles away and yet feels like a different world. We're going back; it was that great!

Room Tip: Rooms with a Jacuzzi in the bathroom are wonderful. Oh, every room is wonderful!
