“Great way to end our Hudson Valley adventure”
Reviewed May 24, 2010

After spending a night in Newburgh we ended our tour of the Hudson Valley at the Beekman, and wow, what an ending. It's beautiful inside and out. We ended up in town on a Sunday, the main streets of town had sidewalk sales from the local businesses as well as from local artisans. There was also a farmer's market going on. What a great vibe in the town. After having lunch in one of the local restaurants and doing some shopping, we checked in early - our room was ready and was very cute&clean. When we walked to our room we had the chance to peek in some of the other rooms that were open - I guess before check-in they keep the room doors open. Super cute rooms! Ours was comfortable for one night, a bit small but there was enough room for the two of us. Happily, the room faced the main street which was nice and bustling - but not too loud. The bathroom was spacious.

In the morning we tried the continental breakfast and it was great - granola, fruit, yogurt, french toast, cereals, muffins, juice, coffee, etc. Constantly stocked too.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone, it was a great little stay.

Wei stayed at the Beekman Arms for four nights and found the staff very helpful and friendly. Our room was across from one George Washington had used, and we learned that Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton started their deadly argument in this inn and that FDR launched all of his political campaigns from the front porch. Since it dates back to 1766, it obviously shows some signs of age, but it''s well maintained and very comfortable. An adequate continental breakfast is included, and the downstairs tavern has good food and lots of atmosphere. With shops and other restaurants nearby and beatiful old houses all around, we found walks delightful. We hope to return soon!

My son and I stayed at the Beekman for one night on a visit to Bard College. The Inn offers a nice discount to the Bard community. We arrived on a rainy spring night to a fire blazing in the main lobby room. The staff was friendly and professional. Our room was on the second floor, very spacious, well-appointed, and clean, with two comfortable twin beds. In the morning we enjoyed breakfast (included in the price) in a sunny dining room - cereal, oj & coffee, though there were other choices as well. If you like historic New England, you will appreciate this hotel.
Rhinebeck itself is a pretty town with some good dining options. We had supper at the Bistro, located a few doors from the hotel. We would like to try the Terrapin and the Beekman Inn restaurant in the future. Also had a cup of coffee and some great cookies down the street at a bakery/wine bar/casual dining spot called Bread Alone, which was really humming early Sunday evening.
I had considered staying across the river in Kingston at a chain hotel. I was doubly glad that I didn't make that choice because the bridge was closed in the morning, which would have meant a major detour. Problably very unusual, but that's how it happened.

My wife and I took four 20-something children to Rhinebeck for an Xmas trip on Amtrak, and stayed at the Delamater Inn, associated with the Beekman Arms and a couple of blocks away. The Delamater part does not have the charm of the old Inn, but the rooms were big, clean, convenient. The breakfast was basic and fine. The Inn itself - a wonderful place if you like history. A crossroads inn since the 1700's, with an old dark tavern and brighter dining areas. Good beer selection, good staff. I'd go back.

Had Thanksgiving dinner there. Behind the roast turkey that was sitting there decoratively, the guy sliced me a pile of turkey meat from a processed turkey loaf. The entire dinner was like this -- mediocre food, much of which was mass-market stuff that they bought somewhere else but sold to me at vastly greater price. I suppose it would've been OK had they charged, say, $12 a head per person, but at over $50 per head, it was an atrocity. I'll never eat in this place again.

Pretty much what you would expect from the oldest inn in the US. No elevators. Classic high bedstead with fru-fru amenities. Updated bathroom was acceptable.
I've got to say, hearing the hostess at the desk arguing with her supervisor put me off.
The main street outside was noisy.

We had a one night stay at the Courtyard at the Delamater and upon arrival I thought the inn was beautiful as was our room. The room had nice touches such as an electric fireplace, mini fridge, huge bed, etc. But soon we discovered some unpleasantness. The shower leaked all over the bathroom floor because of a faulty shower head. Whenever the hot water was run the pipes over our head would bang until they cooled down, the closet was too much to hang a suit in. Breakfast was nice and over all I enjoyed our stay. But at least our room needed a bit of attention. I would return I just hope they fix the rooms up so that the visual beauty does not get marred by the annoyances,
