Rhinebeck has so many excellent restaurants. The Beekman Arms is not among the best but is still worth a visit for the wonderfully authentic colonial atmosphere of the inn and tavern. It is especially cozy in the winter. The bar is good and very popular and the food is homey, ie, short ribs, burgers, pot pie. The wait staff is excellent and a good time can be assured.

My hubby and I stayed above the firehouse in a fabulous room/location right in the middle of town. I popped by the Tavern for lunch and received great service on the patio. Also, great continental breakfast.

Loved this "George Washington slept here" place when we first came up to Hudson Valley in the 90s--had a great chef and good food. Now the beer is better but the food just so-so and has a kid of fuddy-duddy vibe better for the conservative audience than for anyone looking for fine dining. Front of house service is good and def worth a shot if you're staying here although Rhinebeck offers better options for the same tariff.

Recently had dinner with friends at the Tavern. Overcooked calamari, but good beet salad.Of the 4 entrees, fish was overcooked, short ribs were just OK, stuffed shrimp and chicken pot pie were good. We had been to the Beek a while ago and weren't impressed, but thought we'd give it another try. With so many other choices in Rhinebeck, we won't be back.

Wonderful 18th Century charm and attentive friendly staff were the first clue that we had found a great dining spot. The service was impeccable, the wine and Scotch choices broad. Two of us went for duck, one with nothing in particular in mind. The duck was fabulous! My wife ordered the trout, also fabulous. There was a wide selection of entrees and appetizers. All our meals (and those we saw going elsewhere) were very attractive. The side dishes were well matched to the main course and imaginative. we will be going back when we visit our niece again. Lovely experience..
