During a street festival my partner and i decided to try le Petit bistro. We walked in to an almost empty restaurant, was asked if we had reservations, we said no, they refused to seat us, although there were plenty of seats...,we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, and eat somewhere else across the street. When we passed by 30-40 min later, the place was still empty, with the same table and chairs unoccupied...so they didn't let us sit because we didn't have reservations, although their seatings weren't reserved. How obnoxiously pretentious. My partner and i will think of nothing about going out and spending a few hundred dollars for good food and drinks, but we will will NEVER set foot in this place again. We weren't even treated this way in FRANCE. They are ridiculous.

Our satisfaction is that whenever we pass the place it's empty.

I have had three great meals in the last few months. The food is often locally sourced French inspired. High quality ingredients prepared well without too many strange additions as is the case at other restaurants in town. The cosy interior is welcoming especially in bad weather.

Le Petit Bistro is just that - petite! It's a small gem of a place, and always busy, so don't go there if you have to have an acre of space between you and the next table. However, if you like it cozy, appreciate fantastic service and want incredibly delicious food - this is the place. We started our meal with stinging nettle soup. Sounds weird, doesn't it? Well, we thought so, but our server, Patrick, recommended it, so we decided to go with his advice. Wow! Were we glad we did. Dark green, creamy, out of this world. So good with the hot from the oven rolls they serve you (and keep serving throughout the meal if you want - and you will). Their French Onion Soup is always wonderful, but the special soups are usually unusual and delicious. On to appetizers and then Himself had the Neiman Ranch NY strip steak with wonderful au poivre sauce and I thoroughly enjoyed one of the specials, Veal Marsala. Talk about tender! Profiteroles for dessert and we were stuffed. Their regular menu is relatively small, since the chef/owner prefers to offer specials based on the freshest and best ingredients available at the time. We've been going here for years and have never had a bad experience with either the food or service. They're closed Tuesday and Wednesday, and you should definitely make a reservation on the week ends.

We liked it so well, we went back the next night. Everything we ate there was wonderful. We had escargot, French onion soup, salad, veal franchise, roast half duck with calvados apple sauce, ny strip steak au police, and fried oysters, kit Kat cake, creme brûlée, and cheesecake. We took a bottle of wine in the first night and the pommars was excellent with the duck. The second night, we had a glass of Riesling with the oysters and then a bottle of 2004 Chateau Talbot with the meal. It went with the steak au police perfectly. The service was fantastic .... We felt so at home and had such a great time. Our server made several recommendations we would not otherwise have tried (fried oysters and cheesecake among others) and they were definitely a hit. This restaurant will go on my website of top restaurants. Worth driving out of the way to eat here!

I was in town visiting a friend and she said this place was a required stop for the oysters alone. I was definitely not disappointed, as they were heavenly. We only ordered appetizers since we were on a food voyage that had many stops throughout the night for each course - fried oysters and the bruschetta. Our very knowledgeable and charismatic waiter informed us that they were trying something new; one piece had some ingredients on top of it, and the other had mustard greens with something else. The first piece was ok, but the mustard greens piece was absolutely disgusting. So I'd get the oysters but avoid the bruschetta until they change it!
