“Simply Superb!”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

It is difficult not to gush with superlatives about this little jewel of a restaurant. Just the type of dining experience you seek out on vacation (or otherwise). Attentive and knowledgeable staff, dishes that showcase the chef's deft hand from seafood to homemade pasta, feels like a Paris bistro with a caring touch. The terrain with roasted garlic and goat cheese an airy and sumptuous appetizer, the bouillabaisse beautifully excited and enough for two meals, the gnocchi light with a n unexpected pork shoulder (better reheated the next day), the salmon acclaimed by our friend to be the best she had ever eaten. Desserts should not be missed, even if you are not a dessert person. These treats compete with the culinary skills of the chef. Though sated from dinner, we selected a box of macaroons and tarts for the long ride home (3.5 hours) with the hopes of freezing them for another occasion. Of course, we gobbled down every moist crumb before we hit the PA state line. We only wish we lived closer. Thank you for reminding us of what an excellent meal can be, served with care and without a daunting price tag.

“Pure Bliss”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

I have eaten at many restaurants all over the country and this is one of my absolute favorite places to dine hands down. If you desire a warm cozy and quaint atmosphere where the food is to die for then this is the place for you. The owners are so friendly you feel like you are at home eveytime. The wait staff are extremely knowledgeable and attentive especially Anthony and he is also easy on the eyes hehe. A must have is the mussels Normandy and for dessert the chocolate truffle cake. Actually you can't lose everything I have ever had was beautiful and delicious. Bon appetite.

“Great Lunch Spot”
Reviewed July 3, 2014 via mobile

Tiny place with seven tables or so. No shortage of fresh ingredients and fine flavors. The pulled pork sandwich is amazing. Fast, courteous service and fair prices. Parking in Rhinebeck is usually a fiasco, so park your car the first chance you get and enjoy the walk to Calico's.

“Great spot for dinner”
Reviewed June 13, 2014

My husband & I have been going to Rhinebeck for over 15 years for weekend getaways & have walked past Calico many times but we finally had dinner there recently. It's a small charming space with wonderful food, warm cozy ambiance and friendly, helpful staff.
There are some very tasty & different menu choices. I had the gnocchi "sulmona" style and my husband had the sautéed shrimp & scallops over angel hair. For desert we shared the chocolate orange dome....everything was absolutely delicious. Don't miss trying one of Leslie's homemade desserts! We'll definitely be back again on our next Rhinebeck trip!

“Small and charming.”
Reviewed May 31, 2014

This was a sweet place. Small and intimate. We had a very nice lunch. Delicious quiche and salad, very good smoked salmon. There was a fabulously looking dessert display but we passed. Looked good enough to maybe try some next time. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. We had a delightful day in the charming town of Rhinebeck.
