“Most sophisticated in area”
Reviewed July 13, 2014 via mobile

Could be in Aspen or downtown, this sophisticated bistro offers international standard easy Italian food in a hip, casual setting. Very good starters include shrimp and cannelloni, authentic little Italian polpettini (meatballs), fabulous friend calamari with lemon mayonnaise and a spicy tomato sauce, and a great beet, goat cheese and arugula salad.

I prefer the back to see the wood burning pizza oven. Booths for four seem small, big people better ask for tables.

Interesting wine list with a good value Primativo but could use more Chiantis.

“delicious and seasonal”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

This restaurant is a pleasure. We had been wandering Rhinebeck on foot for a few hours and decided to see if we could sit on Market's porch for a cocktail. We had a delicious refreshing drink with Aperol, then the best fried calimari either of us has ever had. We decided to stay for dinner and they accomodated us and even let us add two friends we texted to brag about our meal to our table. We had asparagus roasted in a wood burning oven with bits of parmesean, we had fantastic spring pea/yogurt bruschetta, an amazing kale sale and a delicious bottle of wine made by Helen Turley. Inside was hopping and this place seems to mix locals and tourists.
Very sophisticated but unpretentious, attractive inside. A great spot!

“Stay away from the entrees”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

Ambiance, though too noisy is modern and nice. Pizzas are very good as well as the salads. Some appetizers are good as well. The entrees which are quite pricy are just awful. The lazagna came out and my husband said it was the worst looking plate of food that he ever saw. Chicken had zero flavor. Again the pizzas are great. Cute bar area also for appetizers and cocktails. I will go again, just not for an entree.

“Never expected to find such a Gem!”
Reviewed April 29, 2014

Market Street had been recommended to me but dinner in Rhinebeck is not an often occurrence (this restaurant does not serve lunch). Six of us arrived on a recent evening and we each had utterly fabulous meals, delicious wine and very good service. In fact it was so good that we returned the next evening to find our meals just as delicious and we loved the fact that the menu changed from one day to the very next.

The atmosphere is inviting without being "decorated". In the back of the restaurant are several tables and a food counter that face a very attractive wood burning oven whence incredible pizzas and more emerge.

Food & wine: six people - six different main courses all utterly fresh and delicious; the braised wild carrot salad with dill yogurt was a piece of art; both pasta and risotto dishes were excellent; Halibut Livorno style was simply delectable..... and yes, the deserts were as good. We had both bottles of red and white wines (2 evenings) and the selection was as excellent as the contents.

Reviewers mention the Prix Fixe menu and it is surprisingly wonderful but you must bring a serious appetite. As to the several negative reviews they puzzle me... perhaps it was growing pains? All I can say is that I greatly look forward to another great evening at Market Street.

“Soooooo much better than Gigis”
Reviewed April 25, 2014 via mobile

All our friends were raving about this place so we decided to give it a try. Believe the hype: this place is pretty amazing. The food was great, the ambience warm and cozy and most of all, the service is fantastic. We will definitely come back again. Highly recommended.
