“Not up to par”
Reviewed June 5, 2010

Two different couples had recommended Arielle, I had looked at the menu online, and was also impressed by the look of this newcomer when I walked by one day so I thought the place would be great. Sadly, it was disappointing. We were greeted warmly and seated with our choice of options, but that was the highlight of the evening. The service overall was disappointing...slow & stilted, and most of the servers were so young we felt they just didn't have the right experience. We had to tell the waiter that we wanted cocktails. We ordered the peppercorn crusted sirloin whose seasoning overpowered the meat and a mahi special which was horribly bland. The atmosphere was lovely, but this restaurant needs improvement.

“Tried it again and it was even worse than the first time”
Reviewed May 25, 2010

We decided to give this restaurant a second try. The food was delicious but the service was horrible. We were seated on the side patio and the service staff forgot we were there. We were never served bread after we requested it. Our water glasses were never refilled. When we told the waiter that we were not happy with the service he stated that they had a large party upstairs and that he was very busy. It's a shame that the service is so poor since the chef is quite talented. We won't go there again.

“Yeah, it's okay”
Reviewed May 24, 2010

My husband and I were really excited about eating here for dinner when we were in town for one night. I'll preface this review with the statement, it was Sunday and we arrived after 7. When we arrived we were greeted instantly. My husband was interested in eating in the enclosed porch area, which when we got to the room the hostess also mentioned one of the front porch tables were also available. Thinking this would be more romantic, we decided to take that table. Our hostess brought our menus and water. After that we reviewed the menu and then noticed that we had been sitting there talking and thinking about what sounded good for at least 20 minutes. We had been forgotten. We asked for our waiter and he finally came, still took some time to get to us. We're usually very understanding about how busy it gets at restaurants but it was a little silly since most tables were clearing out while we were still waiting. We finally were able to order dinner and a while later a basket of bread was delivered. The bottom of the bread was burnt. Unfortunately we were not given breadplates so all these burnt crumbs went all over the table. It was pretty silly. Anyway, finally our food came and it was good, not great, but good. We then had to wait for our waiter to return again, my husband ended up getting up to ask another server to have ours bring the check. At this time I think there may have been one table left in the restaurant. We would have ordered dessert but we were afraid we would have been there all night. Instead we left in hopes of grabbing something back at our hotel, sadly, the restaurant had closed 20 minutes before we returned.

Overall, I'm sure it's a great experience when you have better service. The meal was tasty enough, but after the burnt bread and the slow service, it really wasn't worth it. Perhaps it was because it was a Sunday night and people just weren't on their A game, or even the B game...

“Superb! Our favorite restaurant in Rhinebeck”
Reviewed May 3, 2010

We have eaten at Arielle's twice now. Each time we go back to the Hudson Valley area we plan to eat here at least one night. It is now our favorite restaurant in the region. The food is superb, inventive, and top notch. This time we had one of the dinner specials, Diver scallops on orzo with a lemon wine sauce. Outstanding. We also had the rib eye steak with bernaise sauce. Excellent. We shared a trio of desserts, that were out of this world. And I never bother with dessert. But I could not resist the desserts at Arielle's. Also excellent wine selection. Service was excellent. Kimberly, our server, was personable, helpful, and knowledgeable. Cannot wait for our next visit! (And to those who like recommendations, make sure you order the artichoke appetizer. Yum!)
