“Great Barbecue”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

This is a woodsy barbecue type restaurant along the road between Lake Placid and Saranac. The barbecue is DELICIOUS if that is what you are looking for. Service was good and you can eat outdoors or in. I believe they serve beer and the price is what you would expect in a resort area. Restrooms could be cleaner.

“It's more about the atmosphere than the food”
Reviewed August 5, 2013 via mobile

Was through here 8 yrs ago so decided to try again although wife and daughter not so in to it. Sat night at 6pm with whole gang of out of town rugby players drinking pretty hard. All things considered the atmosphere was happy and the band was playing some likable Celtic songs. Our server was very good. Food was fine and I had no complaints and my girls relaxed and got into it. I read some of the other reviews and can only say its not 5 star dining. It's a very unique place that you just have to try. If I come back in another 8 years I will stop in and I know it will still be there!

“What a fun place!”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

Very good bar-be-que served under the tall trees between Lake Placid and Saranac Lake ... even though it was crowded, the service was attentive, the food came out quickly, and we enjoyed our meals very much. Would definitely recommend for a Saturday night!

“Quirky and fun casual dining”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

We hadn't been to this roadside cafe in a while but the last two visits which were both at uncrowded off times proved to be both fun and tasty. We realize that this place proudly advertises as a BBQ place. We are uncertain how that fare is since we only ordered simple things like hot dogs, onion rings, sweet potato fries but we were greeted and served quickly. Everything was delicious and the sweet potato fries were especially good with the maple syrup. We enjoyed the little band that played in the background and our out of town friends remarked that it was lots of fun. I don't think I would order lobster here due to the price, other reviews and quite frankly its not being near a seaport. And perhaps management may want to re-think having lobster at all.

“If you're going for the food, don't bother.”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

We stop here for dinner. Only go here for the atmosphere, NOT THE FOOD! Yes they have live music and a bon fire, but the food was poor at best.
First they consider a full rack of ribs as 8 bones each about 6" long. Very little meat and tough as can be. My son's onion rings were burnt black. I understand the kitchen can make a mistake, but why send them to the table. We actually had to ask them to replace the black onion rings. The lobster claws were, bland at best (not sweet if they were fresh) and served with katsup, not butter. This place has been here since 1930, it's best days are certainly behind it. It seems they have become a tourist trap, and lost all focus on the quality of their food.
