Wait... Do people actually drive by this place and EXPECT great food? You go for a great experience. Just not a great dining experience. It is funky, funny and all around quirky. Definitely worth a stop if you are driving between Lake Placid and Saranac Lake, but please don't expect great food. It is basic, no frills, roadside BBQ and order wisely knowing such is the case.

We went here several years ago and found the food to be nasty. Patrons sit outdoors at picnic benches- the "restaurant," famous for its lobster bake, is part of a campground that is on a main road in Ray Brook. They give you loads of inexpensive grub - but it is grubby at best. If you like ears of corn served shucked and floating in a bowl of melted butter, this place may be for you. Always crowded though, so I guess they have a captive audience. Bring a roll of Tums if you decide to go. And find out where the bathrooms are before you sit down.

Gross, you can do better in your backyard! Nothing special here, critical health violations too, according to the local newspaper

food was worst then the atmosphere.
Felt like the waitress should have warned me... you could tell after she served me that i was going to hate it which i did. They shouldn't serve food like this and they know it. Dry, overcooked leftovers. Collard Greens full of sand!

Well what an experience, it was unpretentious and did not claim to be something it was not, we had hotdogs and felt we had the real McCoy, though not sure we wanted to repeat it.

The place was fine, certainly not clinical and seems to be a cultural icon that hangs on to some of the ways we have come to reminisce upon, it is good to see such icon an still exists though I am not sure I would want to use all the time.

It takes me right back to camp, fond memories, but not to be repeated
