We went to Great Escape Lodge as an end of school year treat for our 2 14 year olds. We were not disappointed in any way! The room was very upscale and nice, plenty of room for four with a separate area for the sofa bed.

The Adirondack theme was very nicely done in the rooms and lobby.

The food and service at Johnny Rockets was very good. It was nice to go in and be treated well after a long day at the theme park.

The indoor water park was fantastic. Very nice and clean, not too crowded. Plenty of warm towels available. My teenagers and husband really liked the surfing area.

Check in and check out was quick and easy. Plenty of parking too and very easy to get to off the thruway.

When we did have a toilet problem maintenace came up right away and fixed it and was very nice about it.

NO complaints at all. Go, you will be treated well and have a great time.

Our experience at the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge was an excellent one. My husband, three-year-old son, and I stayed three-days, two-nights. We had no trouble checking in. The ladies at the counter were friendly, speedy, and polite. We headed quickly to our room, changed into our swimsuits (which I packed on the top), and headed straight to the water park, just a quick elevator ride away.

The water park was totally awesome (I realize I sound like a Valley girl). The features of the park from the lazy river, wading pool, slides, and water squirters/blasters etc. were engaging and fun for my son and for us alike. This was our first mini-vacation, aside from camping, so I was skeptical about whether my son would be ready. I worried that the park would be geared toward older children. However, he had a blast! He tried out all of the water slides on the Tree house; being just tall enough for them. He was overwhelmed and scared on both the blue and green slide (no double riding, so he had to go by himself). The orange slide was perfect for him. The lazy river was a great place to relax (chasing a three-year old around is tiring work). Being that he can't swim yet, he had no choice but to ride in the tube with my husband and I; hence the time to relax. The water park far exceeded my expectations in terms amusement, striking a good balance between kid and parent friendly areas. The only lowlight I can report on was the family tube ride that takes riders through the pitch black water tunnel at pretty fast speeds. Neither my husband nor my son liked this ride. Not being able to see anything is quite scary. Regardless of that, we spent so much time in the water park on our first night that nearly four-hours and suppertime passed by without a blink.

While we missed traditional suppertime, we had no trouble getting a table a Johnny Rockets at well after 9p.m. We were seated in the sports bar section. We received quick service from the bartender/server, the burgers were great, and the music was pretty neat too. I wish the same could be said of the service we received for breakfast at Johnny’s. Although we were seated quickly, it took nearly ten minutes for a waitress to surface to take our order. (This was only after I informed the hostess that we were still waiting). After we ordered, we waited another 45 minutes for our food. Thus we'd been in the diner for nearly an hour with a three-year old boy before we actually got to eat. To say it was a nerve-racking, stressful, or hellacious dining experience is an understatement. By the time the food arrived, we had lost our appetites, which was unfortunate because the food was good. Our breakfast experience turned into simple consumption of food as opposed to enjoying a meal because we were feeling both frustrated as well as anxious to get out of that diner. I recommend that traveler’s bypass Johnny’s for breakfast. Otherwise you may find that your time to go outlet shopping is cut in half because of the inadequate staffing at Johnny’s. (I’m not sounding bitter am I?) We had a great buffet breakfast at the hotel’s first floor restaurant on Sunday morning. The only reason we ventured down to Johnny’s on Monday was that the Tall Tales Tavern was closed. Indeed, your best bet might be to bring some instant oatmeal and other breakfast items with you. Save time and money by eating breakfast in your room, as they are all equipped with micros and fridges.
My last bit of advice to the young family who is considering this lodge would be---travel up Route 9 and take in the sights and sounds of Lake George (both the lake and the village). Our son was in desperate need of a nap on our second day, so we took a break from the lodge and hit the road. Lake George is only three miles north of the lodge. The village was bustling with people, the air was full of wonderful smells coming from the various restaurants, and you can sneak a peek at the lake from the road. I also scoped out the outlet shops, making a mental map of the ones I would be visiting. Before you head back to the lodge, take a quick trip south on Route 9 to Wal-Mart to grab some washcloths, toothpaste (these items were nowhere to be found in our room), a waterproof disposable camera (if you buy one at the lodge’s gift shop you may need to hit the ATM afterward), and a new mini-mouse for your laptop computer (the lodge has free wireless Internet).

Overall, our experience at the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge was a wonderful adventure for us. Had it not been for the lodge and water park our weekend would have been disappointing, as we also visited Great Escape/Splashwater Kingdom as part of a college alumni event. It rained on us that day, as it did most of the weekend. Thus the lodge and water park were the greatest part of our GREAT ESCAPE, well worth the trip (and the cost). In fact, as soon as we got home I was checking rates for my son’s birthday week in January…I’m certain we’ll be heading back!

We booked this hotel the same day as staying after leaving the Sagamore hotel unhappy and unaccomodated. We got a two queen bed room suite with a queen sofa bed. The indoor waterpark was great fun and it was very clean and not busy at all. After staying at Nickelodean hotel in Orlando one night I was cautious because Nickelodean's pools weren't clean, but Great Escape Lodge was everything Nickelodean's wasn't. Lodge decorated smartly in Adirondack style. They could look closer at cleaning in corners, but in general it was nice. Had a refrigerator and microwave which helped with snacks. You can walk to the Six Flags park for the same as parking in Six Flags parking lot. Johnny Rockets also onsite at the hotel plus the hotel's restaurant. We received breakfast in the rate and ate their 2 days out of 4. It was an o.k. breakfast with scrambled eggs, fruit, french toast, muffins, and cereal. We ate from the room service for dinner twice and the price was reasonable. People really nice at this hotel and it's definetly for families.

We stayed at the lodge for two nights (7/16/08-7/18/08) in the room with two queen beds and a pull-out sofa (smallest room). It was very large, and can comfortably sleep six. The beds were very comfortable, and the hotel was exceptionally clean. You can occasionally hear foot steps from above, but this was expected at a kid-friendly hotel. Also, we used the air conditioner for "white noise".

The waterpark is awesome. It was open until 10pm every night. We bought the sweet dreams ($10 - Daffy Duck showed up with cookies and milk). Our son loved it. Also, they offer bedtime stories (free) with a character for the kids every night at 8pm. There are numerous things scheduled each day for the kids. Most are free, but some cost extra.

Johnny Rockets offers a yummy breakfast for about $5-6 per person. The lodge is within walking distance to the Great Escape.

We would definitely stay here again.

We got a $179 internet special Sunday night rate and had a great time. The big reason to go to this hotel is the attached indoor waterpark. The room rate includes admission to the waterpark for the length of stay -- including both check-in and check-out days.
Our room, which had 2 Queen beds and a pull-out sofa, was spacious and clean. The beds were a bit on the mushy side.
We enjoyed the waterpark -- especially because the weather outside wasn't great, so there wouldn't have been much else to do in Lake George. The biggest hit was the boogie boarding pool, which allowed you to ride a boogie board on an artificial wave.
One word of caution -- the hotel is huge and the waterpark isn't. I would try to avoid peak periods here.
Also two days at the waterpark was enough. Even the kids were ready to leave at the end, although they are begging to go back next year.

We stayed at the great escape lodge July 6th-8th. We have two daughters, 10 and 8. They had an excellent time at the indoor waterpark. The rooms are nicely decorated in conjunction with the hotel's theme. The price $207/night + taxes is a bit high but understandable considering the name and amenities attached to it.
