Howard Johnson Inn Queens

Hotel located right in the center of our activities & Family residences - to & from within 20 minutes !! And under 30 mins from JFK......
Staff friendly & courteous - ready to assist when requested.
Rooms are clean - one minor problem, however - Bathroom Sink not working properly - had to move to another room: suggest mainteneance team check to ensure that all plumbing works efficiently before releasing rooms to guests.
Area is safe. Good for short stays.

We had to evacute from the Battery Park area of Manhattan soon after the storm and we were
fortunate to get rooms close to JFK thru Bookings.com at HJI Queens village. Yes, the Hotel does need new interiors, rugs, furniture etc.. but under the circumstances (huricane sandy) the managment did a fine job to keep all functions & utilities going smoothly 24 hours through-out our stay. Kudos to the staff for services rendered during our stay.

I stayed here a few years ago and didn't have a problem. It wasn't fancy, but at least it was clean. I cannot say the same this time. I'm not sure what happened over the last few years, but this place has gone to the dogs.

I ordered a King room online and had to change rooms 4 times. The first room had soiled bedding and no working heat or air. The 2nd room reeked of cigarette smoke. The third room was a Queen (not what I ordered) with mold around the bathtub and crumbs all over the carpet. When I complained that this was a Queen and not a King, the clerk essentially shrugged his shoulders and said it's the same price anyway. While in the Queen room there was a large party of people yelling in the hallway at about 2:00 a.m. We called the front desk, but they didn't care.

The 4th and final room was a King, but part of the curtains were falling down. I had to wedge a towel between the wall to hold the curtains up so we could change out of the view of a busy street.

Lastly the replacement blanket the hotel provided us had a large cigarette burn hole.

Save yourself the trouble and spend $30-40 extra and stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Queens. I will NEVER stay in this hotel again. I recommend that you don't either.

Room Tip: Don't stay here.
