Residence Inn Poughkeepsie
Ranked #5 of 13 Hotels in Poughkeepsie
Reviewed November 15, 2013

Stayed at this Residence Inn to see some local attractions. The room was utilitarian at best, the free breakfast did not look appetizing, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. A bleh smell also hangs in the air throughout the hotel. Marriott usually has good bedding, these beds definitely need updating!

Marriot Residence Inn, Poughkeepsie is an excellent and comfortable hotel to stay. I stayed in King size suite. The suite is fully equipped with kitchen and all the amenities which a traveler looks for. Cable TV was provided in living room as well as in bedroom. Rooms were neat & clean. Complimentary Breakfast was good and had lot of choice. Front desk staff was good & courteous. I stayed there for five nights and had a very good experience.

Stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn, Poughkeepsie, for six nights in October, 2013. We had planned the trip to see Hyde Park, etc., but everything we had planned to see was closed because of the U.S. Government shutdown. The Residence Inn was convenient for grocery shopping (we had a one-bedroom suite with kitchen facilities), and tourist attractions (Walkway over the Hudson, the "Gunks", etc.). Went into Danbury, Connecticut to a very upscale mall, went to Sleepy Hollow, found a great dog park a short distance away. Hotel itself is very clean, bed was comfortable, breakfast consisted of something for everyone's taste, and we had dinner two nights at the Manager's special dinners (I forget what they're actually called). Staff was very friendly -- we never came into the lobby without being greeted. Hope to go back next year to see Hyde Park and everything else we missed. Also, our dog was very well treated.

Room Tip: We stayed on the first floor which was very convenient when travelling with a dog. Apparently, the h...

This past July our 1957 graduating class of Wappingers Central High School held our 56th reunion. A member of our class was able to secure a special rate for those who were able to stay at the Residence Inn. In addition to being very accommodating to the guests, the staff of the Residence Inn allowed us to have our welcoming meeting of approximately 75 people in their breakfast and lounge areas; also providing coffee, tea and water and allowing us to bring our own refreshments. Thank you!

Stayed here for one night with 2 senior parents. We were going to the Culinary Institute of America and Roosevelt's Home, just about 6+ miles up the road. The hotel is modern, neat and clean. There is an attractive fireplace in the lobby. On the outside, you will find that the fireplace is visible with some nice seating on an outdoor patio. The front desk was friendly & helpful the several times I interacted with them. I was especially pleased with our accommodations. We had the queen bedroom suite so my parents could sleep with the door closed and I slept on the sofa bed. The room was spacious, clean, roomy, 2 flat screen TV's, nice shower, good water pressure, full size refrigerator, dishwasher, nice kitchen area with dishes, etc. Nice pool area (didn't use it) with a hot tub plus a pool room for adults only, which I thought was a very nice addition to a hotel which I have never seen before. I noticed there were about a dozen college students around as some others have mentioned which was a bit strange using a hotel for college accommodations. Breakfast was just ok-waffles, muffins, bagels, real English muffins-not the no frills brand, yogurt, fruit, juices. There were scrambled eggs, turkey bacon and potatoes but this hot food was not at all tasty or hot. I'd rather see hard boiled eggs than what was served. There is a Courtyard by Marriott up the street for about $20 dollars less and we picked this location over the CbyM because breakfast was included. I'd stay here again without hesitation but would hope the breakfast would be better next time.

I stayed two nights for a work trip and found the hotel very comfortable. I was especially pleased with the staff who were very helpful taking me to a nearby mall to sort out a mobile phone sim card - which I really appreciated. Breakfast was good, with lots of choice.

Spent three days on a family vacation in Hudson Valley. Hotel was a good location to Catskills while providing many dinner options around hotel. Service was good and room was large and clean. We were traveling with our dog and there were places to walk her. Quiet hotel and a nice breakfast, although wish breakfast would go later than 9 am. Would recommend this to anyone traveling to this area.
