“On a clear day you can see for miles”

Share in the wonder of walking across the Hudson River, the world's longest walking bridge, and view the sights on the way - trees, hills, old city, railroad and river activities. While doing this, you are getting your daily exercise and will be so distracted with the views you'll hardly know you are exercising! Wide walk area, no need to fear - rails along the way. Plan to encounter walkers, runners, bikers, strollers and dogs. Great activity for a spring day, delight in October when leaves are changing color - what a kaleidoscope!

“Great Views...”
Reviewed April 16, 2014

The Walkway is one of the best places in the valley to get a spectacular, unobstructed view of the majestic Hudson River. Especially in the late summer/fall when the leaves are changing. Also a super vantage point to just take in the fresh air and watch the river traffic below. If you're a cyclist, bring them along. Its a super experience to cycle across the bridge and there are miles of safe, paved trail on either side to continue riding on. Parking can be a bit of a problem at peak times since most of the lots are small but there's usually enough coming and going to free up spots quickly. Suggest checking the web ahead of time and finding out where the parking places are and have a backup parking plan if you're not familiar with the area. All on an old railway bed with historical markers and bits of history along the way. Best of all...its all FREE!!!

“Worth a trip”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

The Walkway over the Hudson is a wonderful way to view the Hudson Valley and to see the Catskills. At 212 feet over the Hudson River, the view is just spectacular. The walkway has a sturdy railing and is about 25 feet wide and 6000 feet long. The walkway surface is concrete.

You can park a car at either end and walk to the other side (or just midway) and back. You can ride a bicycle from Hopewell Junction on the East (about 10 miles) or from the Town of Lloyd (about 4 miles). There are great views along the approaches to the Walkway in every season.

The other folks who have found out about this treasure come back repeatedly. You will see people of all ages and classifications; everyone is there to enjoy the view. The walkway is open during daylight hours every day.. The Taconic State Park commission has a ranger office on the West side. There are food vendors most days on both the East and West sides.
