This 1 mile bridge accros the Hudson River just north of Poughkeepsie, NY is a great place to walk, bike stroll the baby or walk a dog. You are 212 feet abuve the River, but the bridge is so solid you don't feel scared. Bring an extra layer of clothing; it is usually a little cooler out on the walkway. If you walk your dog, make sure the walkway is not to hot. A dog can over heat in the summer and die. I love the mix of smiling people on the walkway. On many weekends there might be a special event.
I do not love the selfish dog owners who do not pick up after their dogs.

“Not to be missed”

great for a casual stroll, a great workout, or taking out-of-town guests on a site-seeing trip. The bridge is just a wonderful, local attraction. Just be aware of a few items: during last visit, there were orange cones out in places where the concrete has chipped away; there are few places to sit along the bridge, in the event you're with little kids, the elderly or those with a disability. Other than that, bring your camera, pack a picnic to enjoy at the benches and tables at either end and enjoy.

“Good walk for all ages”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

The walkway is a true treasure here in the hudson valley. There is parking at the base of the walkway on either side of the river although there is a fee to park on the Poughkeepsie side unless you use off street parking. But the views are worth every penny. You can walk, ride a bike, roller blade or push your kids in a stroller. It is a wide walkway with high railings but they don't distract from the view, especially at the center point where the walkway widens and the rails are lower. It can be windy due to the height so in the fall and winter always take a hat.

“nice place to walk”

great place to walk with great scenery but parking should be free since the neighborhood is not good -one should be able to park right there it's good that there is an adjecent lot where one can park but it's not paved and has very rough terrain-this is on the Poughkeepsie side

“A great way to experience the Hudson”

This is a very scenic walk/skate/bike over the river with some interesting displays along the way. It's ideal for dog walkers, baby strollers, etc. It's beautiful in every season.
