“Mama Lucia's not Mamma”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

I have been to Mama Lucia's several times, and it has almost always been gone. My most recent trip was on Veteran's Day 2012. Our server John was very personable and speedy. I got the alfredo with linguini and brocolli. It was really good. My husband got a pizza and he loved it. The atmosphere here is really nice too, as it is in a former train station.

“A fun place to visit”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

Located in a former train station, the location is just off the main streets of Potsdam. It was full when we visited but we were seated promptly; staff was friendly and prompt, food is available family style as an option which we chose. This option is unique and great when there's kids who typically eat a 1/4 of their food. We ordered the family style spaghetti and were amazed at the softball sized meatballs! Mama Mia! With that said, I'd rather have average sized, tastier meatballs but it was fun and different. We'll probably go back when visiting the area again but next time we'll try something different.

“A hidden jewel!”
Reviewed July 24, 2012

We were looking everywhere for a place to eat dinner in the Canton NY area while visiting Hamilton College. The local hotels either had delusions of grandeur (over-priced frozen "entrees") or seemed like a biker bar. We ended up driving 10 minutes to Potsdam just in case there was something better. And there was!

Mama Lucia's has family style offerings of delicious pastas, wood fired oven pizzas, and homemade desserts. The building is a relocated train depot and the historical lines of the depot make it a quirky, fun place to eat. Families, couples and single diners were all present. Servers are attentive, fun and encourage coloring on the (paper) tablecloths. Soon after you sit down you are offered a loaf of hot, fresh bread to share with olive oils.

We shared a wood-fired oven pizza. The crust was delicious and the toppings plentiful and high quality. We tried a white chocolate cheesecake for dessert and it was wonderful. Our total bill was less than $20 (it would have been more if we had wine)

This is a hidden jewel that deserves more visitors! Don't miss visiting it soon!
