“Very nice, a short season”
Reviewed August 27, 2014 via mobile

Quaint with spacious rooms and free parking.

The booze cruise looked fun and Sunday morning brunch was also nice and reasonable. I liked the outdoor seating outside my room. The stairs are a little tricky with baggage.

The good - the location is beautiful and the village is quaint. The beds were comfortable, the shower was good (except the floor - that is under poor) and most of the staff was friendly. Our room was clean - minus the stains and yucky shower floor - no mold thankfully! We consider ourselves lucky on the mold concern, many folks complained about mold or a moldy smell.

The poor to bad - I do not think they have painted or done general work on the buidlings in years. I have attached photos, peeling paint everywhere, water stains on ceilings, stained chairs in rooms, buckets to catch water drips in lobby, shingles falling off - basic stuff that could be fixed often with a paint brush! Plus those pretty photos on the internet - they are more then likely not going to be your room - they have many buildings all in different states of disrepair.

The bad to horrible - NO PARKING, what they avoid telling you is that they actually do not have hotel parking. You are given a "Village Parking" pass - but this does not mean you will EVER find a parking spot. You may drive around for 30 minutues, while missing a rehersal dinner or even worse a wedding looking for a parking spot. We finally resorted one night to parking in a Marina spot, went inside to speak to Trevor at the front desk. He did not care, nor did he offer any help, another guest was there with the same issue, he also had parked in Marina parking due to the lack of spaces - we were both told we could be towed. Lovely customer service by the agent Trevor.

It is a shame, Danfords is a pretty spot, great location, but I was told by several other guests of other options - it would have been nice to return to Danfords - but we will look for other options.

Room Tip: The noise level varies, with the buildings - they forget to tell you they have many buildings and th...

Very pleased with the recent Sweet 16 we had at Dandord's. From planning, to organizing and execution of the evening everything went very smooth. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I was pleased to see I could enjoy the event without needing to make sure the nights festivities went on without a problem. Maitre D Vicki was hands on at all times. Food / Beverage was satisfactory.

We just had our daughters sweet 16 celebration upstairs in the Brookhaven room at Danfords. From the initial visit, Lynn Fisk was very warm, friendly, helpful and professional. It was a pleasure working with her. Calls were returned, and emails were followed up promptly. She made great suggestions and was a wonderful information source.
The day prior to the party, our Maitre D, Vicki Costillo, met us as well for a meeting to go over details. It was her day off but she came anyway. The minute we met her we knew we were in great hands! Her confidence, suggestions, and experience
were evident and we were able to relax knowing things were in her hands.
The day of the party, she did everything she promised and much more! Every idea she had was great! She kept the entire wait staff in place and she didn't miss a trick. She was extremely accommodating as I had many many details I wished to be executed. All details were followed through and the place looked diamond in the sunset overlooking the sound.
The evening ran like a Swiss watch...she kept things on target! My guests were pleased with the service and waitstaff. I went for the valet parking...that was a perfect idea as the area is jammed at this time of year.
At the end of the evening the staff worked to help us clean up and carry things to the car! They couldn't be nicer!
If you read this Lynn Fisk and Vicki...thank you from the bottom of our hearts! No glitches... Just a perfect evening!

Danford's is known for its location, and certainly the location is optimum. However it is NOT a luxury hotel. If staying in Port Jefferson, this would be my recommendation, since there is no place else with the marina location. Do not set your standards too high. The Hotel is not paying attention to any detail. Our room was mostly clean, however the ottoman, had the biggest and most obvious stain disgusting stain.......REALLY?....pretty gross!!! We would expect that in a $69 a night motel, not at Danford's. How about just throw out the ottoman. The view was spectacular from our room although a bit obstructed. One more thing, no hot water. Since we were only staying the night we did not request to get out room changed. Danford's is VERY expensive given the condition. Also keep in mind if you want to sleep a little late.....breakfast is over at 10:30 :(.

Room Tip: Waterview and CLEAN with hot water

This is a great place to stay or go to the lounge and have cocktails and apps. It is right on the water and next to the ferry. cute little town to walk around in and shop and then go back to the lounge for the special price drinks and apps.

For a property that claims to have "80 luxury rooms", all I can say is that is as far from the truth as it gets! Don't get me wrong, the place has character and charm but the term "luxury" is way overstated. The facility and room needs a LOT of work, not more bandaids. I almost fell through my deck. Electrical outlets are hard enough to find and many do not even work. The A/C is WAY under-capable of proper cooling. No breakfast until 7AM, which is an issue if you need to be somewhere at 7. If you want to be in the heart of PJ, this place is there. It's nest to the BPJ ferry. I also can't give the staff much higher marks either. Maybe it's just a NY thing... For $239 a night I would have to rate this place as a rip off and I will not be staying here again.

Room Tip: Stay as far from the ferry landing to avoid the foghorn blast.
