We joined friends for an end-of-summer dinner out to celebrate, among other things, having survived the 500 year Lake Champlain Flood, the failure of the Crown Point bridge, and Hurricane Irene. The King's Inn's hilltop location overlooking the Lake and proximity to much Adirondack history was a special bonus - and safe from the next flood.

We had a window view table; prompt friendly service, and excellent appetizers - "best coconut shrimp ever"; other shrimp and scallop delights, and a generous "build your own salad" where ingredients are selected from a long list. Three of us ordered the seafood medley over linguine - plentiful shrimp, lobster parts and scallops, in a rich broth from chopped whole clams - outstanding - with enough left on each plate for lunch the next day.

Kings Inn is off the beaten track on a gravel drive high above the distressed lakeside village of Port Henry. Well worth the drive - even if you need to rent one of the six richly furnished and modestly priced upstairs guest rooms.

This is a wonderful place for a good meal. Food is excellent and served by knowledgeable & friendly staff.
However, don't go without a reservation. They manage the dining area well if they can seat guests throughout the evening.

The King's Inn is an excellent destination for first date, anniversary, family reunion, holiday feast. The ambiance is quaint and elegant, somewhat understated, just lovely!
I recommend the cuisine highly. The chef is creative and reliable when it comes to getting what you expect at every visit. The service is impeccable in both the restaurant and the bar. The rooms are splendid, victorian and authentically renovated to reflect a bygone era, when the town of Port Henry boomed with wealth and industry. Sitting by the fireside with my sisters drinking Merlot and hearing the crackling of wood is just the kind of ESCAPE I look for and attain by relaxing at The King's Inn. There, I am made to feel like a Queen. I give it 5 stars in every aspect of the hospitality industry. Cudos to the husband and wife who own it!!

I have frequented this establishment many times over the last few years, both the bar and the dining room.
The food offered at the bar is not what is offered in the dining room; the "bar food" is always well-sized, and very delicious.
In the dining room, most dinners come with a salad you build yourself from a notecard listing all options. The salads are always fresh and beautiful. The dinner menus always offer a range of foods, to appeal to most palates, and dietary restrictions. If you are a person who eats lightly, I suggest you order a meal to split. They do sometimes offer too much of certain items, like pasta. I have enjoyed every meal I have had there, and I am going tomorrow night for yet another birthday dinner with my loved ones. Maybe I'll see you there? Enjoy!
