After living in New York for 15 years and returning to Pittsford, H&M was a restaurant we always enjoyed. Under the previous owners, we were treated like family and it become our restaurant of choice, Good food, friendly atmosphere, decent prices. We were sad when the restaurant was sold as we were afraid it would lose the warm cozy feeling and a place for a good meal.
We ventured back after it had reopened and frankly, we were not impressed. The food was average, and the staff was anything but warm, frankly a bit standoffish. We left the restaurant feeling depressed that our favorite restuarant had fallen by the wayside. Plans to return were not in our future.
However, we did return on a Friday evening to give it one more go. Actually we had a coupon and thought at least we would give it another shot. I must say that there has been a complete turn around and had an enjoyable dinner and it is back on our radar.
We started with the wings as an appetizer and they were small, but tasty. The home made blue cheese was very good and a nice dipping for the wings. We then had a nice side salad that was enjoyable, with all things a good salad should have,as well as good croutons! Our entrees consited of the alfredo (very good) and the chefs risotto topped by a piece of battered haddock. Although the risotto was a little dry and gummy, it had nice flavor and the haddock was cleanly fried. The portions were large and we had no room for dessert. The wine list is extensive and they have some nice choices for wine by the glass.
It was nice to return to an old friend and to share a lovely evening. We do plan on returning and if things continue, it may become become that old friend that you look forward to seeing time and time again!
