“Fine (ally) Dining By The Lake!”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

We really enjoyed our Friday evening dinner at Top Of The Lake! I had the warm italian salad - very good (just a titch too much blue cheese if there is such a thing)

My father had the lasagne, which looked incredible-he said it was!

The beef entree, which my aunt ordered, didn't look perfect but it must have been ok or she would have said otherwise.

The perfect-not-too-sweet-just-right yummy pecan pie and GREAT outdoor dining won my hear!!!

You can stay as long as you like because they have plenty of room for alot of people - there's no rush - that's what lake life is all about isn't it?

Our overall experience was so GREAT! Hope they are around for a long time!!!

We found it to be a very relaxing place to enjoy a good meal with friends and familyt!!

“At last we have a successful lake front restaurant right here in Penn Yan.”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

The location of Top of the Lake is ideal - right on the water, outside dining if you wish, approachable by boat or car or foot. The site has had a long history of failed attempts at making a go of it. But, we now have a winner. Well prepared and served meals, friendly service, just a great all around spot to go for a special dinner or just a night away from the kitchen. Congrats to the management and staff!

“Terrible service”
Reviewed June 29, 2014 via mobile

Food was good except for baked potato that was overcooked. Waitress had too large of area to cover...thus we had to ask for everything and wait too long for everything.

“Average Food, Great View”
Reviewed June 24, 2014 via mobile

This restaurant is worth the price for the relaxing experience of sitting outside and enjoying a beautiful lake. As other reviewers have noted, if you go around sunset, the sun will be right in your eyes with no relief unless you sit with your back to it (as I did).

The service was very good-fast, polite and professional, while the food was mediocre. The dinner salad came from a mix with iceberg lettuce and the raspberry vinaigrette was not freshly made. I ordered a ribeye steak, which was properly cooked at medium rare, but had a large piece of fat on the end. The rice portion was small.

My wife had a beef minestrone soup, which she did not enjoy because the vegetables were over cooked and it was fatty. She ordered a mahi mahi and liked the salsa dressing, but the mashed potatoes were from a mix.

The price was reasonable running $48, without alcohol.

Overall, if you are in the area and need a decent relaxing place to eat, this is fine, but if there was no view, I would not recommend it.
